A little throw back to sunnier times in Portugal for one of the toughest events in Europe, King of Portugal. To stick it on the podium, in 2nd place, first time out there, and coming so close to actually winning it, is some achievement! You can be sure that Paul will be heading out there next year with just one thing on his mind! Nothing less than the win will do!

Too get on the podium at the all new SXS race at Weston Beach Race, you need to drive with commitment and precision, as demonstrated by our very own Matthew Hall during the sighting lap! It takes a certain kind of special to park a car like that! 🙈🙈🙈

Friday wasn't the typical day in work for the boys! There's been talk of an SXS race at Weston for years, but this year the organisers and Jason Zembrzuski managed to make it happen!

It was wet, it was windy, it was sandy and it was definitely wild!

After an interesting sighting lap, the cars all eventually lined up to hit the beach for a 3 hour endurance race!
Jason managed to work his way to the front very quickly and built a commanding lead, which he held onto right up to 30mins to go when his rear diff let go! Gutting would be an understatement!

Paul didn't get the best of starts but was working his way through the field before disaster struck and one of his fans started cutting it's way into his radiator. He had to pit a couple of times before Liam solved the issue with 3 raw eggs! The damage was done though, and he had lost touch with the leaders.

Matt however, after his Mav R gymnastics during the sighting lap, set off in the race with a plan to drive at 80% and get the car to the end rather than trying any heroics to push the leaders at the front. It's a method he's used successfully before and once again it paid off as he crossed the line in second place after 3 hrs of racing, just 3 ½mins after the winner, having closed 3 minutes on the last lap! Wonder what would have happened if they had gone for another lap!?

Congratulations to Ryan Sheppard on a, quite literally, sick win!
And Jerome Bennett on bringing his Pro R home in 3rd place having driven in 2 wheel drive for the final 6 laps.
Oddly enough, both those cars are ex PAR Homes Racing cars!

3 very sandy and salty cars to wash, strip and rebuild now, ready for their next adventure!

It won't just be Paul making his way to Weston Super Mare tomorrow. Jason and Matt are both also fired up to be having a go at this first ever SXS race at this iconic event! It should be awesome, if not a bit messy!

King of Portugal 2025

What an experience, unfortunately marred by the very sad death of a marshal on the last day. Our thoughts go out to his family, friends and colleagues at this sad time.

Saturdays race was full of drama for the UTV's.
Paul and Ty were off the line in second place with a mission to chase down the lead car to get in some clear air and try to close off the 3min 22 second lead.

First lap went exactly to plan. The guys managed to get into first through a rock section, and once in front pulled out a commanding lead. End of lap one the overall lead had swapped both physically and on corrected time with Paul passing through with a 3min 40 lead. Lap two was more of the same, with clean air other than lapping slower cars, the guys were able to extend their lead. Unfortunately a small rollover right at the end of the lap allowed the second and third place cars to catch right up, so it was all to play for going into lap three.

Soon into the lap, the second place car managed to skip by on a rock ledge, putting the guys back into the dust they had worked so hard to get ahead of!
Then, right at the end of lap 3, in the exact same place as they has rolled earlier, they got beached on a rock and the third place car managed to sneak through.
That left them in the lap of the timing gods to work out what the final order would be.

Pedro Costa in his Mav R, with a win on Friday and second on Saturday had done enough to take the overall win.
Paul and Ty had done enough Friday to stay in touch and secure 2nd ahead of Luis Guimaraes in his Pro R.

It's a great result, with this their first time attending the event, let alone competing at it! Paul has actually described it as one of the toughest events he's ever done!

The car was faultless and the team kept everything running smoothly all weekend.

Ty did a stand up job navigating and co-driving, giving Paul the confidence to push.
Massive thanks to the organisers who went above and beyond to accommodate us and for putting on a super tough event!

We've headed south to Paul's Villa for a couple of days now to prepare a car for his next event, a Baja Rally in Portalegre at the end of October.

A good solid day in the office for Paul and Ty at King of Portugal. Moved up to second place and knocking on the door of 1st, quite literally at times!
Few little nav errors, but that's to be expected given the amount of dust when you're following someone!
The course is pretty brutal with only 2 cars out of 37 starters actually completing all 3 laps!
It's set up nicely for a good day of racing tomorrow!
