Yes I did say unfortunately because once you know this, you'll feel compelled to do it.
Here's the scoop. Squeezing the block switches on the inner and outer leg muscles simultaneously, the ones that stabilise your pelvis and SI joint, that dense bony area where the spine meets the pelvis that causes so much grief for so many women. When those muscles are doing their job properly, everything above and below them works better too.
Raising your heels at the same time challenges your balance in the best possible way, training your body to find its own steadiness rather than relying on it being handed to you.
Then there's the jumping which isn’t for everyone but small amounts can help maintain and build bone density, something that matters enormously for women in midlife as oestrogen levels change. It also gently encourages the lymphatic system to keep moving, which helps your body do its own housekeeping. If your b***s jiggle when you jump, just hold them! Jump up and down, spin around and have some fun.
The benefits from one little practice:
→ Inner and outer leg muscles switched on→ Pelvis and SI joint stabilised→ Balance challenged and improved→ Bone density supported→ Lymphatic system gently stimulated→ Postural alignment improved
Follow along if you want yoga tips backed by anatomy knowledge — not pretty shapes for the sake of it, but movement that helps your body with the aches, pains and changes that come with age.
