It was supposed to be a simple high five on landing… but it became a clear example of target fixation in action.
When the eyes lock onto a point, the body follows—even under canopy. In this case, the focus on the “target” changed the pilot’s inputs. A small leg input toward the ground increased the turn and brought him further onto the line he was trying to avoid.
This is why we repeat it in training:
Where you look, you go.
Eyes lead. Canopy follows.
Fixation becomes direction.
Lesson: Look away. Steer away.
