First wingfoil lesson of the year — and what a start 🩵✨🦋

This week we had the pleasure of welcoming the talented Ilka for her first wingfoil session with us. In just one lesson she checked off all the key fundamentals — and even managed a few mini take-offs already. 😳

From start to finish we covered:
• discovering the spot
• setting up the equipment
• wing control on the beach
• steering, riding upwind and turning in the water (kneeling)
• standing runs and turns
• + mini dolphin pop 😅

An incredible achievement for a 1st session 💪🏽💪🏽💪🏽 And such a joy to start the season once again with a talented woman on the water.

Thank you Ilka for the laughs and the great energy!!! The weather wasn’t exactly tropical 🌴 but we stayed warm… and the sauna afterwards definitely helped 🔥

The season is just beginning — and yes, it’s true… there are finally no more algae in the lagoon. 🤍🤍🤍
Miracles do happen. Hallelujah. 🤩

Wayke Up is back for 2026! 🩵🌬️🤙🏽☀️
After a wild winter in Portugal — huge storms, crazy rain and winds up to 180 km/h — the coast has been completely reshaped.

When we came back to check our home spot at Lagoa de Óbidos, we had a big surprise…
✨ The algae seem to be gone from the lagoon — which means clean runs again for foiling.
✨ The lagoon entrance has been totally remodeled after the channel moved north and threatened Foz do Arelho.
✨ Massive works reopened the lagoon further south near Bom Sucesso Beach, creating a huge new water playground.

The opening is only a few days old, so it’ll be exciting to watch how the lagoon evolves in the coming weeks… but one thing is already clear:
🔥 Winter is behind us
🔥 The lagoon looks amazing
🔥 The season starts NOW

We’re ready to ride, teach, and share epic sessions with you.
Come early in the season while the lagoon is still quiet and enjoy being among the first on the water in 2026. ✨
(Quick note: Costa da Caparica beaches changed a lot this winter, so lessons there will start from May.)

At Wayke Up, we take extra care with this first kite control hour because it shapes all your future sessions. Learning how to use the full range of the bar, both for power and steering, makes everything so much easier later on.
Lucky us, we’ve got this huge sandy beach in Bela Vista, where you can practice kite control with dry feet and in the best conditions! 💛⛱️ But be aware, if you walk too much downwind, you might be surprised by the other beach users 🍑😅
