Strong and experienced amateur players have two main leaks due to being mostly self-taught 🎱
1. They want to do too much with one shot and overcomplicate decisions, so they miss more balls than they should.
2. They are well aware of their game weaknesses, but don’t know how to practice properly and improve, so they are stuck at the same level for ages.
Two weeks ago, my teammate Szymon came over to fix these and take a leap forward.
🟡 We went through his technique and found a couple of small but critical deficiencies. The fixes are quite simple, but will take a couple of months to fully set as automatic because they involve changing old habits.
🟡 We clearly saw how inoptimal decisions can spoil otherwise won racks. This video is an example: trying to move the 2 from the 15 cost him a life and ruined the entire momentum at the very end of this Long Straight Pool rack.
🟡 We planned a full 3-month preparation and tournament cycle - from technical training up to playing in the WNT 2AM Prague Open in July, where we’ll go together 😎
Here are the rules of this drill for those interested:
🗒️ After a soft break, play each shot with ball in hand from the kitchen line.
🗒️ Use only the back corner pockets and play only the balls on the other side of the table. When you run those out, move the kitchen line to the other side. The balls on the center line can count as both.
🗒️ Set a number of ‘lives’ (balls you can miss) to complete the rack. Remove 1 life after a successful clearance.
Hit me up if you also struggle with similar problems - the solution is just a couple of hours away!
Keep shootin’ 🍄🎱
