Thursday time trial is three days out and we’re not going to make it. Not with numbers like these.
Kacper Stępniak won IRONMAN Poland 70.3 Kraków on Sunday. Second year in a row.
Straight off the bike file:
⚡ 5 min — 407 W
🔥 10 min — 401 W
💥 20 min — 376 W
🚂 60 min — 359 W
🥶 90 min — 351 W
Ninety minutes at 351 W, and that’s still not the whole ride. Those are the numbers he put down on the way to a 1:59:25 bike split, after which he racked the bike and ran a half marathon.
The watts are his. Our half is quieter: wheels, position, all the setup nobody looks at twice in a finish photo. He makes the power, we argue about how much of it survives contact with the air.
And here’s the part we keep laughing about. Four hours before his start, on the other side of the city, we were just wrapping up a 14-hour session in our own wind tunnel, working on the setup he’ll race in Kona.
He’s back in the tunnel before Hawaii and we’re building something extra for October. More on that when it exists.
Nice one, Kacper.
