Dear WA Running Team the Wiosenny RozRUCH UAM is up again. WNPiD is beyond anybody's reach but WA does have a decent shot for a better position than last year.

I strongly recommend NOT using their app but rather using either MapMyRun or Strava, then download your TCX files (those apps in the browser versions let you do that - you just need to open your workout in browser, open the edit options and a menu there should allos you to "download a TCX file"), and upload them on the RozRUCH DataSport website. You can just collect your files and make a file upload sesh once a week or so. The files are dated so it shouldn't be an issue. Also the app looks like an archeological find and works about as well as that.

If you choose to participate - remember, the system knows a "WA Running Team" exists. ;)

Looks like the Organizing Committee for the 13th Poznań Half-Marathon have reached a decision.
At this time the race is to take place on the 17th October.

That gives us 11 weeks - unless the 4th wave washes all those plans away.

It's understandable if you're not quite feeling it. Cut yourselves some slack if you want to give this one a try. It's been 16 months since everything's been called off. So if you're like most of the running community and you quit speed training - remember your health comes first. Reaching the finish line is more important than reaching it as fast as you'd hoped for 16 months ago.

Dear WA Running Team if you have been having issues with the Wiosennny RozRUCH app but you are running using MapMyRun there is a way around using the DataSport app. I prepped it in slides here. I believe Strava also generates TCX and/or GPX files, so the step-by-step instruction should work for Strava users too - once you locate the TCX/GPX file download there.

Ans YES this allows you to add workouts retroactively, so if you have some miles logged that the app wouldn't log properly - you can fix that. :) Cheers!

Dear All,

Apparently, there is a virtual challenge set up by the SWFiS. I missed the communication first and then mistakenly thought participation required prohibitively expensive equipment. However, apart from the mild inconvenience of logging in and wading through the setup of the Datasport app on your phone – it’s fairly easy to get in. So if you’re still with us here, why not join? We likely have the largest Running Team at this Uni, if y’all still running we can break the bank easily enough.

Here’s the basics:
(1) Here’s a link to the ABC’s of the challenge: http://swfis.amu.edu.pl/?p=3420
(2) You will need the Datasport app: (a) it looks like a trainwreck, is clunky on registration and log in, but it works (b) it will give you a prompt about payment – there is NO fee or any payment required, it’s just a built-in prompt that goes away, (c) you need a Datasport account and once you have it – you’ll need to register for the event “Wiosenny RozRuch UAM”
(3) You do NOT need any high-end equipment, your phone is enough; you will need the app to avoid the hassle, however – if you happen to be using MapMyRun, you can go around this by downloading your workouts from your MapMyRun account and uploading them to DataSport (contact me on the details if you want to do that).
(4) We have time until 11th May 2021 to rack up as many collective miles as possible. Running, Nordic walking, cycling – whatever gets out the door and moving.

Bonus: I cordially invite y’all to join me on a weekend run so we can rack some miles up together.

(1) For safety – please be ready to at last have a buff over your face. Air fist bumps and waves only – we’ll minimize physical contact as much as possible.
(2) You can join for the whole run or for a part of it – we can coordinate the time.
(3) Pace: very easy.
(4) Shoes: grab your trial pair if you have them, it’s not a requirement but you will be more comfortable.
(5) Water: grab enough for the mileage you’re planning to join for.
(6) Timing: Saturday 24th April 2021, 7:00am.
(7) Start: Tram Stop Kurpińskiego, Poznań.
(8) Finish: Tram Stop Most Dworcowy, Poznań.

Dear Runners,

The Minister for Health has officially grounded us. In doing so he managed to paint as selfish fitness freaks, disparaging all health benefits running brings. I’m sure we all understand this decision from the government was inevitable, though none of us probably appreciates being called out like this by none other than Minister for Health. The decision was right, the words it was delivered in were not.

So I thought I’d give you the words we all deserve as runners but also as responsible adults, and good citizens.

This is hard. Running helps us stay healthy in body and mind. Mind especially. Grinding to a sudden halt from mid-season mileage is hard, and by doing so we’re all risking our health. But for the sake of those most vulnerable in our communities this is the necessary sacrifice. There are hundreds of people on social media sharing free bodyweight training plans where all you need is your floor, a wall, and a few things you definitely have around the house. Use this time to build up your core strength, your leg muscles (squats are the king/queen exercise!), set aside an hour or two a day to do those at the time you’d normally go running. Not being outside, not moving, not doing what we love, what we’ve grown to depend on, is hard. But we’re runners. Long distance runners. We know how to handle pressure and time. And this is all it is. And all it will take to help drive this pandemic into the ground. Pressure and time. So keep working on your core and your legs, , , and keep your head clear. We will run again when this is over.

Seriously though, good decision. Not cool for us, but it is safe, it evades the potential conflicts with the races in the fall season, pretty much the best hard decision they made.

13 PKO Poznań Half Marathon has been canceled
On Thursday, March 5, during an extraordinary meeting of the crisis staff of the Poznań City Hall, President Jacek Jaśkowiak, based on the recommendations of Łukasz Mikołajczyk the Voivod of Wielkopolska Province decided to cancel the 13 PKO Poznań Half Marathon which was planned to be organized on April 5 this year.
The reason for the decision is to minimize the possible risk of the SARS-Cov-2 coronavirus spreading, which causes COVID-19 disease.
We will inform you about the new Poznan Half Marathon date on the Facebook profile and on the Half Matathon website.
