Dear IKA Branch Chiefs,
Another busy year comes to its close, and a new and promising year awaits us.
Throughout 2025, I travelled more than twelve times, and I wish to express my sincere gratitude to all Branch Chiefs who welcomed me warmly and extended such generous hospitality.
This past year also marked several successful IKA tournaments and gradings around the world. We held strong tournaments in Poland, Philippines, Singapore, Myanmar, the UAE, Indonesia, and Japan (WKK), each demonstrating the growing power, discipline, and unity of our organization.
We also completed important gradings in Myanmar, India, Singapore, and China, where many practitioners advanced through hard work, perseverance, and unwavering spirit. I thank everyone involved for upholding the integrity and true spirit of Kyokushinryu.
In 2026, we will be hosting our 2nd World Tournament in Astana, Kazakhstan, at the end of May. I hope to meet even more of you there, just as we gathered strongly in Manila, Philippines, and Tianjin, China. Let us continue to build momentum and elevate Kyokushinryu to new heights.
As IKA Kyokushinryu continues its steady and powerful growth, I extend my deepest appreciation to each of you. Your effort, loyalty, and spirit remain the driving force behind our progress, and your belief in the Kyokushinryu path strengthens our foundation every day.
In 2025, I highlighted the 5 C’s—Communication, Cooperation, Contribution, Consistency, and Commitment. With expansion comes evolution: in our minds, our systems, our culture, and our training. Yet one thing must never change—our Kyokushin philosophy and the spirit that binds us together.
For 2026, I would like us to embrace five guiding principles beginning with the letter U, values that reflect who we are and how we grow as one organization:
Uniform in our standards, behaviour, and discipline
United in purpose and brotherhood
Understanding in leadership and communication
Unwavering in spirit, values, and determination
Uplifting in the way we support and inspire one another
These 5 U’s will guide our actions as we continue to strengthen the identity, image, and integrity of Kyokushinryu. Our kanji, our events, and our collective movement carry deep meaning. How we represent them matters. Through your continued support, you not only help Kyokushinryu grow—you elevate your own path as martial artists and leaders.
Honbu has always strived to support every Branch Club to the best of its ability. This year, we kindly ask for your reciprocation—through discipline, cooperation, and the unwavering spirit expected of Kyokushin practitioners.
As we move forward, let us all carry the responsibility that comes with growth. The 5 U’s remind us to remain grounded, disciplined, and aligned in our purpose—while never forgetting the 5 C’s, the 8 Principles, and the 11 Mottos.
With the progress we have made and the strong foundation we continue to build together, I look forward with confidence to how far we will go in 2026 and beyond.
Let us stand proud of who we are as Kyokushinryu—forged through hard training, discipline, and unwavering spirit. United in purpose and bound by our values, we will continue to strengthen our organization and uphold the true way of Kyokushin.
As we welcome the New Year, I wish you and your families a strong, healthy, and disciplined year ahead. May 2026 be a year of hard training, clear focus, and powerful unity. Together, let us move forward with one spirit and make 2026 a truly Unifying Year.
