🐢💨 Did You Know? Sea Turtles Can Hold Their Breath for Up to 5 Hours! 🌊

Ever wondered how sea turtles manage to glide effortlessly through the ocean for so long without coming up for air? These incredible reptiles can hold their breath for up to 5 hours thanks to their slow metabolism and ability to conserve oxygen efficiently!

🏊‍♂️ How Do They Do It?

Unlike fish, sea turtles don’t have gills—they need to surface for air, just like us! But when they’re resting or sleeping, their heart rate slows down to as little as one beat every 9 minutes, allowing them to stay submerged for extended periods without needing to breathe.

🔥 Fun Facts:

✅ During active swimming, they typically surface every few minutes for a breath.
✅ When sleeping or resting, they can stay underwater for 4-5 hours!
✅ Hawksbill and Green turtles are the most commonly spotted in Dahab’s waters.
✅ Unfortunately, threats like plastic pollution and ghost nets make breathing difficult for them, so let’s protect our oceans!
