During the medical task of the Light Infantry competition, we aim to assess participants’ skills, share our observations, and raise awareness of certain aspects of battlefield medicine. This year, we are emphasizing the need to expand knowledge and improve the competencies of non-medically trained personnel in prolonged casualty evacuation.
The competitors’ task was to receive a wounded combat medic from an untrained soldier and prepare the casualty to await a prolonged evacuation.
In particular, we focused on the need to:
minimize the risk of detection and engagement by drones;
initiate a thorough assessment;
prevent the development of tension pneumothorax;
recognize shock;
convert or replace tourniquets where appropriate;
provide effective, multilayered, active, and concealed hypothermia prevention;
administer pain medication and antibiotics;
treat burns;
identify and immobilize fractures.
Our aim was to surprise the competitors while improving their skills and awareness.
Did we succeed? Only the competitors themselves can answer that…
What will we assess, and how will we surprise the competitors next year?
No one knows yet…
Congratulations to the best teams in our task: and Klub Strzelecki Kobe
