Imad Wasim for T20Is, Shan Masood for ODIs, Sarfaraz Ahmed for Tests: Amir picks Pakistan’s next captains for all formats,
Former player Mohammad Amir doesn’t want Babar Azam to continue leading Pakistan in international cricket.Babar faces massive flak after the Men in Blue had a mediocre ICC World Cup 2023 in India.
The team failed to qualify for the semi-finals and produced one of the worst on-field displays in recent times.
There was no fightback from the players, and they surrendered meekly in front of the rivals. Afghanistan defeated them comprehensively in Chennai, while they failed to put up a show against Australia, India, South Africa and England.
Babar scored 320 runs in 9 innings, with his three fifties out of four coming in defeats. There was no effort from the bowlers, with spinners even failing to spin the ball.
Meanwhile, Amir was asked to give his choice for the captain’s post, to which he said:
“Imad Wasim for T20s. Pakistan will be playing many matches in the shortest format to prepare for the ICC T20 World 2024,” he said.
“Shan Masood has a good head on his shoulders and he should be looked at for one-day internationals,” he added.
“Sarfaraz Ahmed has two years of international cricket left in him. He should be the one to lead Pakistan in Test cricket and appoint a young vice-captain, who can learn from him,” he concluded.
