With international crude oil prices hovering near $90 per barrel amid global market volatility, Pakistan's Ministry of Energy (Petroleum Division) revised domestic fuel prices upward to adjust for international costs.
Effective August 18, 2026, the ex-depot price of petrol was increased by Rs. 5.77 per litre, while High-Speed Diesel (HSD) saw a rise of Rs. 6.47 per litre. Economic experts note that sustained crude oil rallies exert pressure on the local currency, import bill, and overall consumer price index (CPI), increasing transportation and production costs across industrial and domestic sectors.
