Pakistan Blind Cricket Council (PBCC) extends its heartfelt congratulations to Nirma Rafique, Captain of Pakistan Women Blind Cricket Team, on being honoured with the Prime Minister’s Youth Excellence Award 2026.

Nirma’s remarkable journey, dedication, leadership and achievements in blind cricket are an inspiration for countless young people across Pakistan. Her recognition at the national level is not only a proud moment for her, but also a recognition for Pakistan Blind Cricket.

Her achievement reflects the talent, determination and resilience of Pakistan’s visually impaired athletes, who continue to make the nation proud on and off the field.

Pakistan Blind Cricket Council enhances monthly Honorarium for the National Blind Cricket Players

Lahore, Pakistan – August 2026: Reinforcing its commitment to the welfare and recognition of visually impaired athletes, the Pakistan Blind Cricket Council (PBCC) has announced an enhanced monthly honorarium for 18 outstanding national blind cricketers in recognition of their consistent performances in recent domestic competitions.
The revised honorarium will be effective for six months, from July to December 2026, under PBCC's Player Support Programme. To support its athletes in view of increasing living costs, PBCC has increased the monthly honorarium across all categories. The revised monthly honorarium structure is as follows:

Pakistani-American Community in California reaffirms commitment to the future of Blind Cricket

The Pakistan Blind Cricket Council (PBCC) delegation, led by Syed Sultan Shah, Chairman of PBCC and President of the World Blind Cricket Council (WBCC), was honored at a prestigious Gala Dinner in Sacramento, California.

The event was graciously hosted by Mian Asif, Owner of Mian Bros Inc., and Muhammad Usman, and proudly sponsored by Qamar Ashraf, President of Pakistan Community Members (PCM), California, and Owner of Tire Busters, with the valuable support of Engineer Maqsood Ali, Founder of TSI Engineering Inc.

The event brought together prominent Pakistani-American business leaders, professionals, and community members to recognise PBCC's outstanding contribution to the promotion of Blind Cricket.
During the gathering, Syed Sultan Shah highlighted the remarkable achievements of Pakistan Blind Cricket and shared PBCC's vision for the Blind Cricket Hostel in Lahore, a landmark initiative that will provide accommodation, training, and educational facilities for visually impaired cricketers from across Pakistan.

The proposal received an overwhelming response, with the hosts, sponsors, and members of the Pakistani-American community in California expressing their admiration for PBCC's work and pledging their support for the Blind Cricket Hostel project. They reaffirmed their commitment to working alongside PBCC to mobilise resources and create sustainable opportunities for visually impaired athletes.

As a token of appreciation, Syed Sultan Shah presented commemorative shields to Mian Asif (Owner, Mian Bros Inc.) and Muhammad Usman in recognition of their outstanding hospitality, generous support, and commitment to the promotion of Blind Cricket. The event, facilitated by Dr. Ashraf Abbasi, brought together distinguished Pakistani-American professionals, social activists, and community leaders such as Dr. Mazhar Chaudhary, Lala Gulfaraz Khan, Dr. Barkat Charania, Qamar Sheikh, Zubair Ashraf, Mahmood Chaudhry, Babar Khan, Mumtaz Khan, Khursheed Durrani, and Feroze Khan to recognise PBCC's contributions to the promotion of Blind Cricket and the empowerment of persons with visual impairments. The Pakistan delegation, led by Syed Sultan Shah, President of World Blind Cricket Ltd. and Chairman of the Pakistan Blind Cricket Council (PBCC), proudly participated in the Sports Session of the National Federation of the Blind (NFB) Convention in the United States.

As part of the interactive session, Zeeshan Abbasi, former Captain of the Pakistan Blind Cricket Team, introduced participants to the fundamentals of Blind Cricket. He demonstrated the unique horizontal-bat technique, explained the game's rules, and provided hands-on coaching, allowing visually impaired participants to experience the excitement and skills of Blind Cricket firsthand.

The session was met with tremendous enthusiasm, reflecting the growing international interest in Blind Cricket as a tool for inclusion, empowerment, and sporting excellence.

On the occasion, Syed Sultan Shah reaffirmed Pakistan's commitment to supporting the development of Blind Cricket in the United States. Strengthening Global Partnerships for Blind Cricket! 🇵🇰🤝🇺🇸

A distinguished delegation from the Pakistan Blind Cricket Council (PBCC) and World Blind Cricket Ltd., comprising Syed Sultan Shah (President, World Blind Cricket Ltd. & Chairman, PBCC), Muhammad Sohaib (PhD Scholar & PBCC Representative in the USA), Tahir Mehmood Butt (Head Coach, Pakistan Women Blind Cricket Team), Zeeshan Abbasi (Former Captain, Pakistan Blind Cricket Team), and Dr. Prof. Amir Hanif Raja (Member, International Research Council), had the privilege of meeting Mark Riccobono, President of the National Federation of the Blind (NFB), during the NFB National Convention in Austin, Texas.

During the meeting, Syed Sultan Shah congratulated the National Federation of the Blind on the successful organisation of the NFB National Convention and highly appreciated the organization's remarkable efforts in advancing legislation and advocating for the rights, inclusion, and welfare of blind and visually impaired persons across the United States.

Mark Riccobono commended the outstanding contributions of World Blind Cricket Ltd. in promoting blind cricket across the globe. He praised the sport as a powerful platform that is transforming public perceptions about blindness by demonstrating the talent, resilience, and capabilities of blind athletes.

Syed Sultan Shah reaffirmed Pakistan's commitment to supporting the growth of blind cricket in the United States. He expressed that Pakistan is ready to extend every possible technical assistance, including the provision of cricket equipment, coaching support, and specialised coach education courses to help establish and develop blind cricket in the USA.

Ms. Saima Saleem is the first blind career diplomat of Pakistan and the first blind civil servant in the country’s history — a trailblazer whose life proves that true vision is not defined by sight, but by courage, purpose and the strength to rise beyond every barrier. After securing sixth position nationwide and first among women in the CSS Examination of 2008, she entered the civil service not only as an officer, but as a symbol of possibility for generations to come. With more than seventeen years of experience in diplomacy, human rights, humanitarian affairs, international law, peace and security, and sustainable development, she currently serves as Counsellor at the Permanent Mission of Pakistan to the United Nations in New York, contributing to Pakistan’s work at the United Nations. She has drafted landmark UN resolutions, presidential statements and national reports on issues ranging from international law and peaceful settlement of disputes to human rights, assistive technology, countering disinformation and UN-OIC cooperation. Educated at the University of Geneva, Georgetown University and Kinnaird University, she is also a writer, researcher and a powerful public speaker. Recipient of the Tamgha-e-Imtiaz, and multiple academic distinctions, Saima’s journey is ultimately a story of faith, resilience and service — a reminder that hardship can become strength, barriers can become bridges, and dreams, when pursued with courage, can change history.
