Spain Receives Historic Welcome After World Cup Triumph, Over 1.8 Million Fans Celebrate in Madrid
Spainโs national football team received a historic homecoming in Madrid after winning the FIFA World Cup 2026, with an estimated 1.8 million fans taking to the streets to celebrate the victory.
The 26-member squad, which defeated Argentina 1-0 in extra time to lift the trophy, met with the Spanish royal family and Prime Minister Pedro Sรกnchez before touring the city on an open-top bus with the World Cup trophy.
During the celebrations, tribute was also paid to a 13-year-old boy who tragically lost his life after a fountain collapsed in Salamanca, casting a shadow over the nationwide festivities.
