At the IFRP center established at the Kohat Sports Complex for refugee documentation and repatriation processing, several Afghan refugees allegedly attacked two NADRA officers, according to preliminary reports. The motive behind the incident has not yet been confirmed.

Sources stated that the injured NADRA employees were shifted to a hospital after sustaining injuries during the alleged assault. Police reportedly arrested two Afghan nationals at the scene, while two other suspects managed to flee.

Available reports further claim that the accused individuals also attempted to attack a security guard deployed at the sports complex. Law enforcement authorities have initiated legal proceedings, including action under Section 14 of the Foreigners Act.

Sources further claimed that some circulating reports on social media and other media platforms regarding the incident are incorrect and do not reflect the complete facts. According to eyewitness accounts, firing can reportedly be heard in a video of the incident, allegedly carried out by police personnel to disperse and distract the crowd at the scene.

Clarification on Kohat Hockey Turf Usage

Recent allegations regarding the “misuse” of Kohat’s hockey turf are incorrect. The facility has not been damaged nor used irresponsibly.

Schoolchildren are allowed on the turf only when all other grounds are occupied, and even then, only with soft shoes, which do not harm the synthetic surface in any way. No studs, spikes, or equipment that could damage the turf are permitted.

The hockey turf remains fully available for hockey players, and its condition is regularly monitored. Limited, harmless use during peak hours does not affect the facility’s lifespan or purpose.

The department remains committed to protecting this valuable public investment and ensuring it continues to serve athletes and the community responsibly.

Clarification on DG Sports’ Visit to Kohat Sports Complex

KOHAT – Contrary to certain reports circulating on social media, the visit of Director General Sports Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to the Kohat Sports Complex was not entirely unannounced. The DG was already in Kohat earlier in the day, and his arrival at the complex was anticipated by the local administration.

The Administrator of the Sports Complex was present at the time and personally received the DG upon his arrival. Reports suggesting the absence of the Administrator or other key staff members are therefore inaccurate and misleading.
