Former Pakistan captain Babar Azam reached a new milestone during the first Test against South Africa at the Gaddafi Stadium, becoming the first Pakistani and eighth player overall to score over 3,000 runs in ICC World Test Championship (WTC) history.

He achieved the feat in his 37th Test, with an impressive record of 18 half-centuries and eight centuries in the WTC. The exclusive 3,000-run club includes England’s Joe Root, Ben Stokes, Zak Crawley, and Australia’s Steve Smith, Marnus Labuschagne, Travis Head, and Usman Khawaja.

At stumps, Pakistan stood at 308 for five, with Mohammad Rizwan unbeaten on 60 and Salman Ali Agha on 49, after a strong recovery partnership following a middle-order collapse earlier in the innings.
