Islamabad (Sports Desk) — The final of the 3rd Chief of Army Staff Inter Club National Hockey Championship 2026 held at Naseer Bundha Hockey Stadium, Islamabad, delivered a spectacular and thrilling contest for hockey enthusiasts, featuring Nishtar Hockey Club and Rising Star Hockey Club. Both teams demonstrated exceptional skill, strategic play, and professional discipline throughout the match. In a closely contested game, Nishtar Hockey Club scored the decisive goal to secure a 1–0 victory, claiming the championship trophy.
The final was attended by esteemed national and international dignitaries, including Mr. Eduard Preda (Deputy Head of Mission, Embassy of Romania), Mr. Kamal Ahmad (High Commissioner of Brunei), Dato Azhar Mazlan (Ambassador of Malaysia), Syed Naveed ur Rehman (Deputy Director General, Pakistan Sports Board), senior sports editor and journalist Ansar Mahmood Bhatti, Shahzad Ali Khan (Vice Chancellor, Health Services Academy Islamabad), and Rana Akram (Vice President, Federation of Realtors Pakistan). All guests were presented with commemorative shields in recognition of their presence and contributions to the promotion of sports.
Additionally, the tournament’s administrative and technical officials were honored for their outstanding performance and professionalism. Those recognized included Muhammad Younis Minhas (Tournament Director), Ehsan Niazi (Assistant Tournament Director), Syed Zia Ullah Shah (Organizing Secretary), Muhammad Ijaz (Umpire Manager), match umpires Rana Rizwan and Mehboob Javed, reserve umpire Muhammad Naseem, and technical officials Syed Zain ul Abidin, Raja Latif, Muhammad Mohsin, Hasan Shah, and Wasim Baig, all of whom received shields for their dedicated efforts and contribution to the successful and transparent conduct of the championship.
In a media interaction, Shahzad Ali Khan highlighted the importance of hockey in instilling discipline, teamwork, and physical and mental development among youth.
