⚠️ Public Awareness Regarding JAECOO J7 PHEV Maintenance Cost
I would like to share a serious concern regarding the maintenance and spare parts cost of the newly launched JAECOO J7 PHEV in Pakistan.
After a recent accidental damage assessment, the authorized dealership provided an estimated repair quotation exceeding PKR 7.1 Million including taxes for parts replacement and restoration only.
What is alarming is that this estimated repair cost is approximately 70% of the vehicle’s market value, despite the vehicle being relatively new in the market.
Some of the quoted components include:
• Front seats with airbags: ~PKR 986,000 each
• Airbag controller & airbags: Hundreds of thousands
• Bonnet: ~PKR 300,000
• Headlight: ~PKR 334,000
• Front door: ~PKR 352,000
• Windscreen: ~PKR 232,000
• Multiple sensors, trims, bumpers, and electronic modules at extremely high prices
This raises serious questions regarding:
• Spare parts pricing strategy
• Availability and localization of components
• Insurance viability
• Long-term ownership sustainability
• Resale and accident recovery economics
While the vehicle may offer premium features and attractive styling, potential buyers should carefully evaluate after-sales support and repair economics before making a purchase decision.
A vehicle should not become financially irrecoverable after a moderate accident.
I strongly advise customers, fleet owners, and corporate buyers to thoroughly assess maintenance risks, spare part costs, and insurance implications before investing in newly launched imported hybrid platforms with limited localization.
