“Eat the Rainbow” – The Color Nutrition Concept
🔴 🟠 🟢 🔵🟣
Each color in natural foods (fruits and vegetables) represents a unique group of micronutrients and phytochemicals (bioactive compounds) that support different body systems.
By eating a variety of colors every day, you ensure your body gets a wide spectrum of vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants.
*Main Roles of Micronutrients*
"Energy metabolism" Help enzymes convert macronutrients into usable energy (ATP).
"Growth and repair" Support tissue building, hormone production, and immune defense.
"Antioxidant protection" Prevent cell damage from free radicals.
"Nervous and muscular function" Regulate signals and muscle contractions.
"Bone and blood health" Help in red blood cell formation and bone mineralization.
(Examples of How Micronutrients Support Macronutrient Functions)
Example 1 – Vitamin B Complex & Carbohydrates:
Role: B vitamins (especially B1, B2, B3, B6) act as coenzymes that help enzymes break down carbohydrates into glucose for energy.
Without B vitamins, carbs cannot be fully metabolized, leading to fatigue and poor energy utilization.
Example 2 – Zinc & Protein Synthesis:
Role: Zinc is essential for enzymes that synthesize and repair proteins.
During muscle building or recovery, zinc supports amino acid metabolism and tissue regeneration — allowing the macronutrient protein to perform its function effectively.
In summary:
Micronutrients act as support systems for macronutrients — enabling energy release, muscle growth, and recovery. Without sufficient vitamins and minerals, even a high-protein or high-carb diet cannot produce optimal results for performance or health.
