The Pakistan Ball Hockey Federation is deeply disappointed by the way our organization, players, and staff were treated during the WBDHF World Championship.
From the beginning of the preparation process, we worked in good faith to collaborate with the organizers. We submitted reasonable requests regarding scheduling, player eligibility, heritage flexibility, and tournament logistics well in advance. We simply asked to be given the same opportunity to compete under conditions that, in our view, had been granted to other participating nations, provinces, and continental teams. Unfortunately, our requests were not respected despite assurances that they would be considered/ honored. Throughout the process, we presented screenshots and evidence in support of our position, yet it became increasingly clear to us that the decision makers had no intention of allowing Pakistan to continue competing following the game against Quebec.
Throughout the tournament, we felt that Pakistan was not afforded the same level of communication, flexibility, or respect as other participating teams. Decisions that directly affected our delegation were made without transparency, leaving our athletes and staff in an extremely difficult position. Most disappointing of all, we were suspended without receiving any formal communication of the decision. Instead, we were left seeking answers while organizers repeatedly directed responsibility elsewhere, leaving our players, coaches, and management in a state of uncertainty.
The decision to suspend our Men's team from the remainder of the tournament was devastating. We respectfully disagree with both the process that led to this outcome and the manner in which it was handled. Our players traveled from distance, invested significant time, personal sacrifice, and financial resources, and proudly represented Pakistan with professionalism and integrity. They deserved the opportunity to compete, to be heard, and to be treated with fairness and respect.
Despite these challenges, we remain incredibly proud of every player, coach, volunteer, and supporter who stood behind Pakistan. Our team demonstrated resilience, professionalism, and unity under exceptionally difficult circumstances. Their 7-4 victory over Quebec, along with the character they displayed throughout the tournament, are accomplishments that can never be taken away from them.
This experience has only reinforced our concerns regarding the governance and decision-making processes within the WBDHF. We firmly believe that competition should be built on transparency, consistency, accountability, and equal treatment for every member nation, regardless of size, influence, or political standing.
The Pakistan Ball Hockey Federation remains fully committed to growing the game, supporting our athletes, and representing Pakistan with pride on the international stage. We will continue to advocate for fairness and equal opportunity for all nations so that future athletes do not have to endure what our players experienced.
To everyone who stood with us throughout this journey, our players, families, supporters, and the global ball hockey community..thank you. Your encouragement gave us strength during one of the most difficult moments in our federation's history.
This chapter is not the end of our story. It is fuel for our determination. We will continue to build, continue to fight for what is right, and return stronger than ever to proudly represent Pakistan.
