Lahore Qalandars’ left-handed opener Fakhar Zaman on Monday became only the second batter in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) history to complete 2,000 runs after Babar Azam.
Fakhar achieved the milestone in the curtain-raiser of the recently-commenced PSL 8 with his magnificent half-century.
The left-handed batter scored 66 off 42 deliveries, hitting three boundaries and five sixes.
His 66-run knock not only took him past the 2000-run barrier but also surpassed Kamran Akmal to become the all-time second leading run-scorer of the league’s history.
Fakhar has now scored 2005 runs in 64 innings at an average of 31.82 including 17 fifties and a century.
It is pertinent to mention that Fakhar’s half-century led Qalandars to post a competitive 175/6 against home side Multan Sultans in the PSL 8 opener.
