ASHA Workerβs 28-Km Journey to Reach Children in Remote Manipur
Meidinliu Newmai, a 50-year-old ASHA worker, reportedly travelled nearly 28 kilometres through the forests of Tamenglong, Manipur, carrying polio vaccines to children in a remote village. π
According to accounts accompanying a widely shared photo, she crossed five rivers and spent almost eight hours on the journey to reach 17 children. Newmai has reportedly been serving her community since 2007, highlighting the challenges frontline health workers face in delivering essential healthcare to remote areas of Northeast India.
