GENERAL TOURNAMENT GUIDELINES
I. ELIGIBILTY
a. The Tournament is Open for all individuals.
b. Players’ classifications will be based on the organizers’ ratings.
c. Only players who are classified as Beginners or Novice are qualified to enter the tournament.
d. Proper Identification or Government issued IDs must be presented to the organizers upon registration.
e. Listing of classifications will be posted for the information of everyone.
f. Only Players classified as Beginners can still join the Novice Category. Otherwise, its not allowed.
g. A player can have a maximum of 3 entries.
II. CATEGORIES
a. Beginners (Men’s Doubles, Women’s Doubles, Mixed Doubles)
b. Novice (Co-ed)
III. ENTRY FEES
a. Php 350 per player or 700 per pair
b. Entry fees are NON-REFUNDABLE
c. Registration is TRANSFERABLE only before the tournament starts.
IV. SCORING
a. All matches will use the Side out Scoring System.
b. In the Elimination Round until the Quarterfinals, first to score 11 points will win the match. Players will change ends when one pair reaches the score of 6. If in case the score is 10-all, sudden death will be applied.
c. In the Semi-finals and the Battle for Bronze, first to score 15 points will win the match. Players will change ends when one pair reaches the score of 8. If in case the score is 14-all, sudden death will be applied.
d. In the Gold Medal match, first to score 15 points will win the match. Players will change ends when one pair reaches the score of 8. If in case the score is 14-all, a margin of 2 points is needed to win the match. And if the score are still ties at 16-all, sudden death will be applied.
V. TOURNAMENT FORMAT
a. The tournament will be in ROUND-ROBIN format in the elimination round for all events.
b. Each event will be divided into Brackets depending on the number of entries.
c. Event/s with 7 or less entries will have only 1 bracket. Events with 8 to 12 entries will be divided into two brackets. Event/s with 13 to 20 entries will divided be into 4 brackets.
d. If there are 4 brackets, top 2 teams will qualify in the quarterfinals. For events with 2 brackets only, Top 2 teams will qualify for the semifinals. And for events with one (1) bracket, Top 4 pairs will play for the semi-finals.
e. Quarterfinals for 4 Brackets
QF1 - Rank 1A vs Rank 2D
QF2 - Rank 1B vs Rank 2C
QF3 - Rank 1C vs Rank 2B
QF4 - Rank 1D vs Rank 2A
f. Semi-finals for four (4) Brackets
i. Quarterfinals Winner 1 vs Quarterfinals Winner 2
ii. Quarterfinals Winner 3 vs Quarterfinals Winner 4
g. Semi-finals for two (2) Brackets
i. Rank 1A vs Rank 2B
ii. Rank 1B vs Rank 2A
h. Semi-finals for one (1) bracket
i. Rank 1 vs Rank 4
ii. Rank 2 vs Rank 3
i. Medals Matches
i. Semi-finals Loser 1 vs Semi-Finals Loser 2 (for Bronze)
ii. Semi-Finals Winner 1 vs Semi-Finals Winner 2 (for Gold)
VI. BREAKING OF TIES AFTER THE ELIMINATIONS ROUND
a. In the case of Two-way/Double Tie, WIN OVER THE OTHER shall be applied
b. In the case of 3 or more ties, POINT DIFFERENCE of the scores in their respective bracket* will be applied.
VII. DEFAULTING
a. A defaulting time of 5 minutes after the last/final call will be strictly imposed. If any of the team failed to show up, the match will be forfeited in favor of the present team.
b. All schedules will be provided ahead of the tournament dates. It will be posted in the FB page of Tupi Pickleball Community and in the strategic locations in the tournament venue. Players are strongly encouraged to be aware of their schedules to avoid defaults.
c. Although scheduled time will be provided in advance, Marathon scheduling will still be applied (games may start earlier than the scheduled time and will use available courts anytime). It is strongly advised that all players should come at least an hour before your scheduled match).
VIII. ENTRIES
a. Entries are subject to the approval of the tournament committee.
IX. PROTEST
a. Any protest should be done after the classification of players are posted. If in any case that a sandbagging player/s are discovered, the committee and organizers will have the final say to that.
X. SUBSTITUTION
a. No substitution will be allowed once the tournament has started.
XI. TIME OUTS
a. A team is allowed of 1 time out per game only in the semifinals and finals matches only
b. Injury time out is only 5 minutes (only 1 injury time out per game for each team is allowed)
XII. CODE OF CONDUCT
a. Understand, appreciate and abide by the rules of the game and the honor system.
b. Respect the integrity and judgment of the referees and tournament officials.
c. Respect your opponents and be courteous following each match, whether in victory or defeat.
d. Be responsible for your actions and maintain self-control.
e. Refrain from using foul or abusive language.
f. Unsportsmanlike conduct will not be acceptable and may result in the termination of play. WARNINGS will be given, then termination and removal from the court.
XIII. SPECIAL PROVISION
a. The Tournament committee reserves the right to refuse entries, modify or change some guidelines stipulated in this tournament which is deemed necessary for the successful conduct of the tournament. The decision of the committee is final and irrevocable
