The Cagayan Valley Medical Center (CVMC) proudly celebrated its victory as the back-to-back champion in the Mr. and Ms. Friendship Games 2024.

The competition culminated in a thrilling finale, with the duo from the Southern Isabela Medical Center (SIMC) clinching 1st place, while the Cagayan Valley Center for Health Development (CVCHD) secured the 2nd runner-up position.

Participants not only competed in traditional pageant categories but also highlighted their advocacy platforms, emphasizing health awareness and community support.

As CVMC continues to uphold its legacy of excellence, this win reflects the dedication and hard work of its representatives, who did their utmost to embody the ideals of friendship and unity.

In addition to the major titles, the following special awards were also given:

The 2024 Regional Friendship Games concluded on a high note, bringing together health workers from across the Cagayan Valley Center for Health Development (CVCHD) and its five Department of Health hospitals; the event not only fostered friendly competition but also strengthened the bonds of camaraderie and cooperation within the region’s health sector.

This year’s games featured a wide array of competitions, ranging from basketball, volleyball, and e-sports, to athletics, showcasing the athletic prowess and teamwork of participants; beyond the sports arena, vibrant socio-cultural activities, including karaoke contests, cheerleading, hataw, and dancesport exhibitions, highlighted the rich cultural heritage of Cagayan Valley; thus, these activities allowed participants to express their creativity and celebrate regional unity.

Regional Director Amelita Pangilinan expressed her gratitude to all those who contributed to the event’s success, “It is with immense pride and joy that I extend my heartfelt congratulations to everyone who has taken part in making the Regional Friendship Games 2024 a resounding success. Your passion, teamwork, and unwavering commitment have made this event not only a celebration of athleticism but also a testament to the spirit of camaraderie and unity that defines us,” she said.

Looking ahead, the responsibility for hosting the 2025 Regional Friendship Games was officially handed over to the Region 2 Trauma and Medical Center, under the leadership of Medical Center Chief Dr. Ray Suanding; whereby, RD Pangilinan emphasized that the legacy established will further strengthen the bonds between the participating teams.

The success of the 2024 Friendship Games highlights the importance of initiatives that promote health and well-being while reinforcing teamwork, sportsmanship, and solidarity within the health community as Regional Director Amelita Pangilinan emphasized, the event serves as a reminder to carry forward the values of unity, friendship, and excellence as they move into the next phase of the remarkable journey.

Regional Friendship Games Wrap Up Major Events, Exciting Line-Up Awaits for Day 3

The second day of the highly anticipated Regional Friendship Games concluded today, September 25, 2024, with thrilling competitions that showcased the region’s best athletes and teams; hundreds of participants from region 2 DOH hospitals, namely, BGH, CVMC, SIMC, R2TMC and DATRC, and the CVCHD, demonstrated exceptional sportsmanship and camaraderie across major sporting events.

From intense volleyball and basketball matches to exhilarating track and field events, the region’s youth and athletes truly embodied the spirit of unity and excellence.

As the crowd cheers for today’s champions, excitement is building up for the next wave of festivities lined up for tomorrow, September 26, 2024; the day will kick off with the much-awaited Larong Lahi featuring traditional Filipino games that promise fun, laughter, and friendly rivalry among participants of all ages; this will be followed by the Dance Sport Competition, where dancers will dazzle the audience with their grace, rhythm, and creativity.

The evening will bring a different kind of competition as the stage lights up for the glamorous Search for Mr. and Ms. Friendship, a celebration of beauty, wit, and talent; adding more excitement to the festivities, the search for the Karaoke King and Queen will cap off the night, giving talented vocalists the chance to showcase their singing prowess in front of a lively crowd.

CVCHD invites everyone to join tomorrow as they celebrate the heritage through Larong Lahi, and enjoy a night of entertainment and fun with the pageant and karaoke competition.
