# # # *WELCOME TO KOTZJ BASKETBALL*
_For Parents of Kids & Youth Ages 6-18_
# # # # *What is KOTZJ Basketball?*
KOTZJ stands for *“Knees Over Toes”* — a training method made popular by Coach Ben Patrick. It’s built on one idea: *Strong, mobile joints create better, healthier athletes.*
Traditional basketball training often skips the “prehab.” We do the opposite. Before we add jumping, sprinting, or heavy drills, we make sure your child’s knees, ankles, and hips are strong through their _full_ range of motion.
*Result*: Fewer injuries, better movement, and skills built on a body that can actually use them for years.
# # # # *Our Mission for Your Child*
To help your child play basketball with confidence, durability, and joy. We develop pain-free athletes by prioritizing joint health and fundamentals first — building habits that last on the court and in life.
# # # # *What Your Child Will Learn*
*All Levels Focus On:*
1. *Bulletproofing*: ATG split squats, tibialis raises, slant board work to protect knees/ankles
2. *Fundamentals*: Dribbling, passing, shooting, footwork, basketball IQ
3. *Character*: Discipline, patience, respect, teamwork, consistency
4. *Body Awareness*: How to move well and listen to their body
# # # # *“Able > Sore” — Our #1 Rule*
We never train through joint pain. If something hurts, we adjust the movement. Progress comes from consistency, not soreness. This is how we keep kids playing season after season.

# # # # *FAQs*
*Q: My child has never played. Is that okay?*
A: Perfect. Beginners start with bodyweight and basic movements. Everyone starts at zero.
*Q: Will this make my child sore?*
A: Goal is the opposite. Some muscle fatigue is normal, but joint pain is not. We adjust.
*Q: Is this just stretching?*
A: No. It’s _strength_ through length. We build muscle while improving mobility.
*Q: Will my kid still get to play games?*
A: Yes. Every session includes skill work, drills, and game play. We just build the body first.
