Second huddle, second day. It was time for me to listen.

I wanted to know their goals (and dreams). I wanted to hear their frustrations (and fears). Even for a short time, I wanted to hear their story and learn things about them.

Because only then could I understand them and help them despite the little opportunity that I have.

Many times in sports (and in life), you will see others having more than you do. And that’s okay. Be happy for them cos you’ll never know how long they’ve waited and how hard they’ve worked to be where they are today. Be genuinely happy and see them as an inspiration.

Telling them this and reminding them also how blessed they are already with all that they have now. Some things are not ideal to be honest. But be grateful still. Recognize their God-given gifts, grow it, and most importantly, use it not just for themselves but to help others too.

Someday somehow, the right people will see their potential and support them with whatever they need more.
