As long-term gym owners – GYM REPUBLIC has been established as a FRIENDLY GYM FOR 3 YEARS NOW – we understand that doing regular exercise, at whatever level can bring tremendous and sometimes unexpected benefits.

For many years there was this belief that working out at the gym was only for people with a serious desire to build up muscle and strength and was a place where sweat, endeavour and pain were the key to achieving your goals.

Gradually this is changing as people realise that, with our much more sedentary lifestyle and unhealthy diets full of processed food and with obesity and ill health related to poor fitness rising alarmingly, they really do need to something to reverse the trend.

Here are 10 reasons to start that regular exercise regime.

1. Exercise controls weight
This is the one most people will recognise – as when you engage in physical activity, you burn calories. The more intense the activity, the more calories you burn which will help you prevent excess weight gain or help maintain weight loss.
2. Exercise is good for your health
Another one we all recognise. Being active boosts high-density lipoprotein (HDL), or “good,” cholesterol and decreases unhealthy triglycerides which helps in lowering blood pressure and decreases your risk of cardiovascular diseases. In fact regular exercise can also prevent or manage a wide range of health problems including strokes, metabolic syndrome, type 2 diabetes, depression, certain types of cancer, arthritis and falls.
3. Exercise is great for reducing stress and anxiety
A workout is a great way to relieve the pressure of life. Physical activity stimulates various brain chemicals that may leave you feeling happier and more relaxed and also increases concentrations of norepinephrine, a chemical that can moderate the brain’s response to stress. Some moderate-to-high intensity aerobic exercise can also reduce anxiety sensitivity.
4. Get that happy feeling
Everyone gets that ‘happy’ feeling after exercise, This is because it releases endorphins, which are the body’s natural high and create a feeling of euphoria. Doctors often recommend exercise for those suffering from depression instead of pills and there are so many other benefits as well.
5. Boosting Your Self-Confidence
Not only will you probably be looking better but more than likely you will be feeling better about yourself and therefore more confident when meeting others.
6. Great for the little grey cells
It’s not just your body that benefits from exercise. Many studies have show that cardiovascular exercise has a positive effect on your brain power as well. It increases levels of a brain-derived protein (known as BDNF) in the body, believed to help with decision making and higher thinking. Exercise also increases production of cells in the hippocampus, which is the part of the brain responsible for memory and learning. For this reason, research has linked children’s brain development with level of physical fitness although you don’t have to be a kid to get the same benefit!
7. Exercise promotes better sleep
If you are having trouble sleeping you will probably find that regular physical activity can help you fall asleep faster and deepen your sleep, so you can wake feeling more refreshed.
8. Get a boost in energy
Exercise and physical activity deliver oxygen and nutrients to your tissues and help your cardiovascular system work more efficiently. And when your heart and lungs work more efficiently, you have more energy to go about your daily activities.
9. Helps control addiction
The cause of addiction is a nasty little beast called dopamine, or “reward chemical” that the brain releases in response to any form of pleasure such as drugs, alcohol or food. Exercise sessions can often distract the addict by making them de-prioritize cravings (at least in the short term) making kicking the habit all that much easier.
10. Boost your s*x life
We thought we’d better leave this one until last! Not only will you become fitter, sharper, more confident and, dare we say it, able to keep going longer, but studies have shown that regular physical activity can lead to enhanced arousal for women and men who exercise regularly are less likely to have problems with erectile dysfunction.

“Strictly Prohibited inside the Gym”
• Wearing of slippers and leather shoes during exercise.
• Bringing of foods and alcoholic beverages into the work out area.
• Smoking anywhere in the gym premises.
• Bringing of weapon of any kind and other flammable materials.
• Working out under the influence of drugs and liquor.
• Assaulting gym personnel and fellow members.
• ESCAPING IN PAYING THE MONTHLY DUES AND OR SESSION,
LOCKER RENTLAS AND MEMBERSHIP FEE..
• Children or minors under 12 years old are not allowed to stay at the gym premises.
• The most important task to do before getting inside the gym is to SIGN-IN first at the reception area.
• Destroying or damaging gym property.
- You will be charged for the incurred.
• HALF-NAKEDNESS.
