Komjyokai Aikijutsu is a Martial Arts Academy founded in 1965 at Cebu City by Grandmaster Candawan. The academy is now headed by Sheehan Dhong Reynaldo with the Humbo (Headquarters) located in Urgello, Cebu City. Members of this organization come from all walks of life, united by a common desire to learn self-defense. Aikijutsu or Aikijujutsu is an ancient Japanese Martial Art developed by the Sam
urai of Feudal Japan. At Komjyokai Aikijutsu, students and teachers alike are considered as brothers/sisters under Christ, thus we are not only a martial art school but also a Christian Fellowship. As such, qualities such as service, integrity, patriotism, and justice are inculcated among members. Although we practice the ancient martial art of the Samurai, we do not however practice their entire tradition. The techniques are legitimate, having been passed down to our founder, GM Candawan, by a Japanese 4th degree blackbelt in Aikijutsu, albeit in secret- as part of their cultural exchange policies during the 1950s. But times have changed, and our techniques have adapted as well by incorporating various disarms against handguns and rifles and also teaching basic weapons training. About the Instructor:
As a sempai (senior student) and having accomplished deeds recognized as honorable and beneficial to the organization, I, Edward Manteza, has been granted special privilege to teach and propagate the techniques and values of this fine organization. I have utilized techniques from Aikijutsu and employed fighting principles instilled in me as a Komjyokai Fighter, thereby prevailing against bigger opponents and allowing me to earn a perfect record in MMA of 8 wins and no loss.
