ABOUT THE COURSE
The HSI Emergency Medical Response for Non-EMS Personnel program gives you a detailed, hands-on approach to managing out-of-hospital medical emergencies before EMS arrives.
It goes well beyond standard first aid, giving lay rescuers and first responders deeper knowledge, more skills practice, and more advanced training.

ASHI-certified instructors facilitate EMR.
You will receive 2 Certifications:
1. Emergency Medical Responder
2. Stop the Bleed Certification

🌊 FROM TRAINING TO REAL-LIFE RESCUE: 3 TEENAGERS SAVED IN BALANAC RIVER

What started as a day of Swift Water Search and Rescue Training turned into an actual rescue operation yesterday, 11 September 2026 (Friday), at around 2:00 PM in Balanac River, Pagsanjan, Laguna.

Our team from SOAR - Deployable Response Group was conducting Swift Water Rescue Training together with the 11th Civil Military Operations Kaugnayan Battalion (11CMOBn) when a local resident suddenly called our attention after seeing a group of teenagers from afar, calling for help.

Our instructors and trainees immediately responded.

Upon reaching the area, we discovered three teenagers struggling in the river, already exhausted as the strong current continued to carry them downstream.

And this is where training became reality.

Our 11CMOBn trainees immediately stepped up and worked alongside our SOAR DRG instructors and rescuers. The skills they were learning—water safety, rescue techniques, teamwork, communication, and proper approach—were no longer just exercises.

They were being used to save lives.

Working together, our SOAR DRG team and the 11CMOBn trainees successfully rescued all three teenagers from the river and brought them to safety.

The rescued teenagers were immediately assessed and given appropriate medical attention.

Two required further medical evaluation and were transported to the Emergency Room, while the other was turned over to Sta. Cruz DRRMO, who facilitated the proper turnover to their respective families.

👏 We are especially proud of our 11CMOBn trainees.

They came to Balanac River to learn.
Yesterday, they became true rescuers.

This is exactly why we train—to build people who are prepared to respond when lives are at stake. The courage, discipline, teamwork, and willingness of the 11CMOBn trainees to put their training into action made a real difference yesterday.

Our Swift Water Search and Rescue Training with 11CMOBn is part of our continuing preparation and capability-building for possible flooding and water-related emergencies in Metro Manila and surrounding areas.

We never expected that the lessons would be tested so soon.
But when the call for help came, our trainees answered.

🌊 DAY 2 | POOL-BASED SWIFT WATER SEARCH & RESCUE TRAINING 🛟

Day 2 of the Swift Water Search and Rescue (SWSR) Training for the 11th Civil-Military Operations Battalion (11CMOBn) brought the participants into the water—where knowledge had to become movement, technique, and confidence.

Today’s pool session focused on developing the fundamental skills needed by a rescuer before entering an actual swift-water environment.

Among the skills and competencies covered were:

🛟 Rescue Techniques – practicing safe approaches, victim contact, control, and assisted rescue techniques while minimizing risk to both rescuer and victim.

🦺 Proper Donning and Use of PPE – hands-on familiarization with personal protective equipment, including correct fitting, adjustment, and preparation before entering the water.

🔎 PPE Familiarization – understanding the purpose, specifications, limitations, and proper use of essential water rescue equipment.

🏊 Water Survival Techniques – developing confidence in the water, maintaining body position, controlled movement, and survival-oriented techniques that can help rescuers manage unexpected situations.

💪 Proper Body Position & Form – emphasizing correct posture, body mechanics, and efficient movement in the water to conserve energy and maintain control.

🔥 Strengthening & Conditioning – physical exercises focusing on the core, upper and lower extremities, building the strength and endurance necessary for water rescue operations.

🤝 Teamwork & Communication – learning to work as a rescue team, follow commands, maintain situational awareness, and support one another throughout the evolution.

The pool may look calm, but the skills being developed today are preparation for an environment that is anything but predictable.

A good rescuer doesn't just know how to swim. A good rescuer knows how to survive, assess, approach, control, communicate, and bring someone home safely.

From the pool to the river—training today, preparing for the current tomorrow. 🌊🛟

🌊 SWIFT WATER SEARCH & RESCUE TRAINING KICKS OFF! 🛟

Today, 05 September 2026, we officially kicked off the Swift Water Search and Rescue Training for the Civil Mitary Operations Battalion (11CMOBN), headed by CDR Maximo Del Ponso Jr. and CDR Joseph Arman Ventura .

The training opened with a formal Opening Ceremony, followed by an essential discussion on Hydrology and Swift Water Hazards—building the foundation for understanding the river environment, water behavior, and the risks rescuers may encounter during operations.

🏊 Day 1–2: Pool Training
Participants will undergo intensive pool-based training to develop and strengthen fundamental water rescue skills, techniques, teamwork, and confidence in the water.

🌊 Day 3–5: Swift Water Simulation
The training will culminate in a 3-day hands-on Swift Water Search and Rescue simulation at Balanac River, Magdalena, Laguna, where participants will put their knowledge and skills to the test in a more challenging and realistic environment.

This training is more than just learning rescue techniques—it is about developing competence, confidence, discipline, and readiness to respond when lives are at risk.

From classroom discussions to the river, every skill learned today can make a difference tomorrow.

SOAR Philippines Training Institute is grateful for the opportunity to be part of the Combat Life Saver Course conducted for 94 Reenlisted Personnel from various Civil-Military Operations units across the Philippines.

Through our instructor, we were honored to share essential lifesaving knowledge, practical skills, and real-world lessons with Class 02-206 Mabalasik Bravo.
