There are moments in life when words never seem enough. 💔

Today, our downhill skateboarding family mourns alongside one of our sisters from Mindanao as she faces the greatest heartbreak a parent could ever experience.

After three years of bravely battling biliary atresia, her precious little warrior has peacefully gone home to our Heavenly Father. His journey was filled with countless hospital visits, endless prayers, unwavering hope, and unimaginable strength. Though his tiny body grew tired, his courage never did. He fought with a strength that inspired everyone who followed his story.

Our hearts are completely broken for Marchi and her family. Losing a child is a pain beyond what words can describe, and no family should ever have to endure such a heartbreaking goodbye.

Today, we ask our entire downhill skateboarding community, our friends, and everyone who reads this to please pause for a moment and say a prayer. Pray that our little warrior’s soul may rest peacefully in the loving arms of our Lord, where there is no more pain, no more suffering, and no more tears. May he find eternal peace in Heaven, surrounded by God’s endless love.

Please also lift Marchi and her family in your prayers. May God wrap them in His comforting embrace, give them the strength to face each day, and remind them that their little angel will forever live in their hearts.

Our good friend Earl is currently battling Necrotizing Pancreatitis and needs assistance with his medical expenses. Earl was part of the Iloilo music scene during the early 2000s, and many in the community remember him from that time.

A portion of the event proceeds will go directly toward his medical needs. We will set up a separate donation box for those who want to donate directly.

LOOK: FILIPINO SKATERS COMPLETE 4-HOUR NONSTOP RIDE FROM DUBAI TO ABU DHABI ON LONGBOARDS

Two UAE-based Filipinos pushed the limits of long-distance skating after completing a nonstop four-hour ride on longboards from Dubai to Abu Dhabi, much of it through open desert with no shelter and no easy option to stop once underway.

Distance skaters Agoe Ray Manzano and Kyle Custodio began their journey at Marmoom Mosque in Al Qudra and finished at Mawasem Park Green House in Abu Dhabi, covering a total distance of 66.12 kilometers in 4 hours, 27 minutes, and 49 seconds.

“We trained for months to be self-sustained without any support,” Manzano told The Filipino Times. “The route has no shelters, no convenience stores, no stopovers, and no water refill stations. Powered by energy gels and electrolytes, we trained with the goal of ‘no going off the board for 5 hours.’”

Despite months of preparation, the ride tested their endurance as they faced cold winds, intense heat, and headwinds. Manzano said the challenge was not only physical but also mental, driven by the goal of becoming the first in the UAE to complete a longboard journey between the two emirates.

“For us to go far, we need to maintain a heart rate where we can fully have a good conversation or a funny one. Need to maintain such speed so we can conserve energy. Focus is the key. Everything is calculated,” Manzano said.

For Manzano, the Dubai–Abu Dhabi skate marked a personal milestone shaped by years of long-distance riding. His previous longest push was a spontaneous 100-kilometer ride from Satwa to Flamingo (D3), Internet City, and back to Satwa.

“Out of curiosity, I wanted to know how a 100-kilometer push would feel like,” he said. “There was no plan or preparation. I just woke up, ate a meal, took a bath, and went on the journey.”

“That’s when it came to my mind—is it possible to do this without break time?” he said. “Curiosity kicked in, and training began to get serious. It started moving away from the usual idea of what longboarding is.”

After completing the Dubai–Abu Dhabi route, Manzano said he has several goals in mind and plans to pursue them gradually. These include joining the International Distance Skateboarding Association and participating in its virtual races, as well as taking part in New York’s Broadway Bomb push race.

“Not sure which will come first, but these are some items on my bucket list,” he said.
