The U15 Philippine National Baseball Team made history in the recently concluded XII BFA Asian Baseball Championship held in Tainan City, Taiwan, finishing as the 4th-best team in Asia โ the countryโs highest achievement ever in the tournament.
A total of eight nations competed: Japan, Chinese Taipei, South Korea, the Philippines, Hong KongโChina, Sri Lanka, Thailand, and Pakistan. Drawn into Group B with Japan, Sri Lanka, and Hong KongโChina, the Philippines earned 2nd place in the group stage. The team opened with a commanding 11โ1 mercy-rule victory over Sri Lanka and followed it with a dramatic 3โ2 walk-off win against Hong KongโChina. Although they fell to Japan in their final group game, their strong start secured them a historic slot in the Super Round for the first time in Philippine U15 baseball history.
In the Super Round, the Philippines faced world-class competition in Chinese Taipei and South Korea. Despite putting up a tough fight, they bowed to both powerhouses and closed their campaign with a 4th-place overall finish โ a remarkable milestone that cements the Philippines as a rising contender in Asian youth baseball.
This breakthrough was powered by the dedication and talent of its players: Kristoffer M. Agojo, Radreid J. Atienza, Eidriel R. Balahadia, James Michael O. Balderian, Lance L. Brown, Ross Brixter P. Castillo, Francis Mateusz D. Deomano, Rhod Andrey D. Divino, Prince Llyrd Phoenix C. Garcia, Kyle Joriz E. Lumbres, Jerwyn V. Maala, Daniel Ezekiel M. Manaig, Jacob Bennedict A. Marudo, Ray Ferdinand B. Mercado, Charles Darwin S. Monterey, Jahniel Andrew N. Platon, Aljon T. Santelices, and Arken R. Vispo.
Guiding the team were Head Coach Iking Jimenez, Assistant Coaches Eduard Tuazon, Vladi Eguia, and Anthony Dizer, with PABA Vice President Manny De Castro serving as Team Manager.
Though the journey ended short of the finals, the Philippinesโ 4th-place finish in Asia represents a breakthrough moment and a proud chapter in the nationโs baseball history โ inspiring future generations to dream even bigger.
