Cordilleran RODEO

Cordilleran RODEO “Cordilleran Rodeo” is an event consisting of timed parlor games for riders on horses of which the province of Benguet has been conducting for years now.

“Cordilleran Rodeo" locally known as "DONGBA NI KAVAJU” is one of the events consisting of timed parlor games for riders on horses of which the province of Benguet has been conducting for years now. This includes timed speed events such as:, horse race of different categories, pole bending, flag and barrel race, balloon bursting, sack race, musical chair, pony express, egg relay, saddle race ,hat

picking, trick roping, team building, among others. All of these events are designed to display precise, controlled actions and tight teamwork between horse and rider at speed of which both are comfortable with in order to compete to the top. This event often emphasizes the participation of anyone regardless of s*x and age who is capable to handle and ride a horse and any horse enthusiast who has the proper training in competing through standardized rules and regulations. The prime purpose and objectives are:
1. to promote and cultivate cooperation and friendly relationships between saddle
and pony associations within the entire province and nearby regions
2. to promote the sport of "pattern horse handling"
3. to promote sportsmanship and fair play.
4. to establish and cultivate love for the animals
5. to enhance one’s skills in the sport
6. to set a pattern horse racing events in preparation for national competition
7. to encourage and allow family members to compete and enjoy bonding with
horses together
8. to promote wholesome activity within the province
9. to promote Tourism within the province
10.to promote and develop camaraderie among all the participants
(riders, contestants and crowd)

Horse enthusiasts and lovers of the events, let's just hope and pray that our new governor would still include the "Dongba Ne Kavaju" in the yearly activities of the province of Benguet... We would be thankful a lot..
