ISU-Roxas Athletics Club Shines in CAVRASUC 2025, Earns National SCUAA Qualification
Isabela State University - Roxas Campus reaffirmed its excellence in athletics as members of the ISU-Roxas Athletics Club delivered remarkable performances in the CAVRASUC 2025, held at Cagayan State University from March 24 to 28, 2025. Leading the delegation was Ericson G. Reyes, a third-year BS in Fisheries student, who secured gold medals in both the 5000m and 10000m Walkathon Events, earning a coveted spot in the National SCUAA. His dedication, perseverance, and sportsmanship exemplify the core values of the ISU-Roxas Athletics Club, which is committed to developing student-athletes through discipline, integrity, and excellence in sports.

Alongside Reyes, several members of the ISU-Roxas Athletics Club showcased commendable performances. Mitch Ordonio, a first-year BS in Law Enforcement and Administration student, earned two silver medals in the 4x100m Women’s Relay and Medley Relay. Randolf Estelin, a second-year BS in Agribusiness student, secured fourth place in the Javelin Throw, while Mark Manuel, a fourth-year BS in Agribusiness student, finished fifth in the 400m Hurdles. These achievements highlight the club’s dedication to fostering a culture of resilience, camaraderie, and fair competition among its athletes.

The ISU-Roxas Athletics Club is not only known for its athletic prowess but also for the outstanding academic achievements of its student-athlete scholars. These athletes have managed to balance the demands of rigorous training and competition while excelling in their academic pursuits, setting a shining example for others to follow.

Ella M. Limon, a BS Criminology student, stands out with an impressive GWA of 1.42, earning her a spot as one of the top 10 academic scholars. Her dedication to both her studies and sport has made her a role model for excellence in both fields.

Angelyn B. Pigao, a BS in Agribusiness student, also shines with a remarkable GWA of 1.47, placing her in the top 10 academic scholars. Her hard work and discipline are reflected in her academic performance, proving that success in the classroom and on the field is attainable.

Jasmin A. Reyes, BSLEA student also joined in the top 10 academic scholars with a remarkable GWA of 1.47.

Crisanta B. Hinalong, a BS in Law Enforcement and Administration (BSLEA) student, earned a GWA of 1.55, showcasing her ability to excel academically while leading her team as one of the captains. Her commitment to both her studies and athletics is a testament to her dedication and resilience.

The University Meet 2024, held at Isabela State University Cabagan Campus from February 4 to 7, 2025, marked a successful chapter for the ISU-Roxas Athletics Club, earning 3 golds, 10 silvers, and 7 bronze medals for an overall third-place finish.

Among the many triumphs, four athletes earned spots to represent their team at the regional SCUAA qualifiers to be held at Cagayan State University. These athletes include Randolf Lustan Estelin, a 2nd-year BS in Agribusiness student, Mark Manuel, a 4th-year BS in Agribusiness student, Reyes, a 3rd-year BS in Fisheries student, and Mitch Ordonio 1st-year BS in Law Enforcement and Administration student. Their accomplishments reflect their dedication, skill, and readiness to take on the challenges of the regional competition.

However, the victory was more than just about medals—it was a testament to the teamwork, effort, and sacrifice of every single member of the ISU-Roxas Athletics Club. Each athlete gave their best, from early morning training sessions to late-night preparations. Every member of the team played a crucial role in the success, supporting one another through challenges and celebrating their collective achievements.

The coaches' contributions were equally vital to the team’s success. Head coach Percival L. Domingo, with his strategic insights and leadership, was instrumental in guiding the team through every stage of the competition. Along with him, Coaches Angelo R. Gayo, Jayson D. Castaneda, and Emmanuel Lacueva worked tirelessly to prepare the athletes, both physically and mentally. Their dedication and expertise played a crucial role in refining the team's performance and ensuring their success.

As the team looks ahead to next year’s competition, the triumphs of this year should serve as both motivation and a reminder of what can be achieved through hard work, sacrifice, and collaboration.
