On the road to the 2026 Combat Wrestling World Championship to be held in Korea! In partnership with Samadio MMA and Select Pro Fighters From Amateur Wrestling League, Combat Wrestling Philippines will hold Buno sa Angono 2: Combat Wrestling and Takedown Challenge on August 2, 2026! 🤼‍♀️🤼🤼‍♂️

The age and weight classes for Combat Wrestling and Takedown Challenge are as follows:

Men, Adult (over age 18), in kg.: 62, 68, 74, 82, 90, 100, +100
Men, Veteran (over age 40), in kg.: 62, 68, 74, 82, 90, 100, +100
Women, Adult (over age 16), in kg.: 57, 64, open weight
Men, Youth (below 18): open weight Women, Youth (below 16): open weight

Here's a great read for catch wrestling athletes and enthusiasts, written by one of our Philippine Combat Wrestling champions, Fabio Makisig of PUSO Wrestling. 🏆 Both a leader and leading athlete of Philippine professional wrestling, Fabio elucidates the merits of having a strong base in Catch-as-Catch Can to flourish as a pro wrestler. And we are grateful for him mentioning Combat Wrestling, and his participation in our last national trials, in his article:

"On March 10, 2025, I entered the first Combat Wrestling competition in the Philippines. Its rules are likely the closest to modern day CACC—the winning conditions are pin or submit.'

"I have been training CACC consistently since February 2025, enabled by my chance meeting with Captain Ken Koike, a Snake Pit Japan-trained wrestler. Call it serendepitous or manifesting a dream to reality, but for someone like me (who’s been constantly looking for ways to connect to CACC) to suddenly get the chance to train genuine CACC… it’s like a dream come true.'

"So when Captain Ken approached me with the idea of joining a Combat Wrestling competition to test my meager CACC, you bet I said yes." 🤼

And finally, COMBAT WRESTLING training sessions at Off Grid S&C Facility start this August 2025! The first training sessions dedicated solely for learning the grappling sport of combat wrestling will be held regularly at Off Grid S&C Facility in Marikina City! The classes will be handled by former Marikina Wrestling Team head coach and 2025 Asian Combat Wrestling Championships silver medalist (veterans division) Coach Erwin Gamao (photos: in red). It will be held every Tuesday and Thursday at 7:00 PM beginning August 12. It will also be launched with a FREE trial on August 9. 🤼‍♀️🤼🤼‍♂️

CONGRATULATIONS, Team Combat Wrestling Philippines! Congratulations, Gilbert Ombao for winning GOLD (right, top photo) and Erwin Gamao for snatching a SILVER (left, top photo) in the Veteran Men Division (90 kg. and 82 kg., respectively) in the 2025 Asian Combat Wrestling Championships held earlier today, June 22, at Silk Dome, Honjo, Saitama, Japan! The Philippine delegation, coached by Combat Wrestling Philippines Corp secretary general Karlo Sevilla (center, top photo), placed 5th overall in the budding continental grappling competition.

This is the second consecutive year that Combat Wrestling Philippines participated in the annual continental grappling event. Last year, John Andrei Samadio of the Laguna Wrestling Team made history by winning the Philippines' first-ever medal (a silver) in the 2024 Asian Combat Wrestling Championships.

May we have more wins inside and outside the country, and inside and outside the mat! 🔥 🤼‍♂️ 🇵🇭
