FOLK NIGHT with Music Icon JOEY AYALA
A Golden Night of Music, Memories & Generations
Last Saturday, the Doña Amanda Poolside came alive with an unforgettable evening of folk, country, and Filipino music!
The night opened with the soulful sounds of the KRN Folk & Country Acoustic Trio from Albay, taking us on a musical journey through familiar songs from “America” and other folk favorites.
Adding a uniquely Filipino touch was a lively Folk Dance Medley, beautifully performed by the talented employees of Celebrity Club namely Rev Espino (Executive Department), Mikko Herrera (Banquet Department), Jeffrey Cundangan (Sports Department), Connie Quinlog (Sports Department), and Dairen T. Falcutila (Treasury Department).
Then came the much-awaited performance of Music Icon Joey Ayala, who opened with his beloved classic “Karaniwang Tao.” The evening became even more special with a captivating djembe performance by special guest Tapati.
And in a delightful surprise, renowned folk singer Florante joined us and rendered several songs, much to the audience’s delight. KRN returned for a second set, keeping the crowd entertained and the music flowing throughout the evening. KRN was Sir Eric Illescas' gift to Celebrity Club.
The celebration was made even more meaningful by the presence of our valued members and guests, including Eric Illescas, owner of Dona Amanda Restaurant, who celebrated his wife Agnes’ birthday with us; Director Greg Buhain and his family, including his 90-year-old mother, Prof. Popo Suanes (Marketing Committee Member), Gootzie Herrera (Co-Chairperson of Social & Special Events Committee), Lecturer/Speakers from our Free Seminar - Nano Manahan, Jr. with wife Justice Cathy Manahan, and Dr. Bimbo Diaz, and Former National IBP President Egon Cayosa. The memorable night was hosted by Allan Dale Alojipan.
President Dot, in her welcome remarks, shared her long-time admiration for Joey Ayala and expressed how happy she was to finally welcome the music icon to Celebrity Club. She also thanked profusely the Celebrity Club management and staff headed by GM Leo Cabrera and the Doña Amanda staff for all the arrangements and the sumptuous food.
It was truly a night where music bridged generations, memories came alive, and the Club community came together.
