QCU Hosts QC Governmentโs Car-Free, Carefree Sunday Promoting Pinasigla-Kalyesugan Program
Quezon City University (QCU) proudly serves as the host department for the Car-Free, Carefree Sunday, a flagship wellness initiative of the Quezon City Government with the Pinasigla-Kalyesugan Program, in partnership with the Department of Health.
The event will take place on March 1, 2026 (Sunday), along Tomas Morato Avenue, Quezon City. The Pinasigla-Kalyesugan Program is designed to promote healthier lifestyles, environmental sustainability, and stronger community engagement by transforming selected streets into safe, car-free spaces.
For this special Sunday, Tomas Morato Avenue will become a vibrant venue where residents, students, families, and wellness advocates can freely enjoy outdoor activities such as walking, jogging, cycling, and participating in community-based fitness and wellness programs.
The event will gather distinguished national and local leaders in support of public health and active living. Mayor Joy Belmonte will deliver her message of support on behalf of the city government, while Secretary Teodoro J. Herbosa of Department of Health (DOH) will reinforce the DOHโs commitment to promoting preventive healthcare and community wellness.
The keynote address will be delivered by His Excellency Ferdinand Romualdez Marcos Jr., underscoring the national governmentโs support for initiatives that advance public health, sustainability, and active communities.
Adding a meaningful and solemn opening to the program, Tanghalan Quezon City University will lead the invocation, reflecting the universityโs integral role not only as host but also as a key contributor to the spirit and success of the event.
As Host Department, Quezon City University encourages its students, faculty, staff, alumni, and the broader community to actively participate in this important initiative. The Car-Free, Carefree Sunday stands as a celebration of health, unity, and shared responsibility in building a greener, healthier, and more livable city for all.
