The Ateneo Football Center, a project of the Ateneo University Athletics Office, was established in 1982 under the leadership of the late Chris Monfort with the prime objective of providing a systematic football instructional program for boys and girls between ages 4 to 18 years old. The AFC aims to provide the basic foundation for the physical development of the child and to promote football as a
wholesome and enriching sport. Since then, the AFC has been a major breeding ground of talented players for the various Varsity Football Teams of the university. The program has allowed the school to win a number of championships in the national, regional, as well as in the international levels. For some players, football has also provided them the basic foundation needed to excel in other sports such as basketball, swimming, and track and field. To date, Ateneo de Manila University remains to be in possession of one of the most accessible and available football fields in the north, specifically in the Quezon City district. AFC, well known for its prestigious grassroots football program, has received countless inquiries and sentiments from many alumni and outsiders alike who have seen the benefits of the program on its enrollees to expanded its reach to young adults and professionals. On the summer of 2017, AFC has launched the AFC Adult Program and Open Play, which is perfect for those who wish to learn the basics or brush up on their football skills, to stay active and healthy, to simply keep busy and have fun, and/or to meet new people through the world’s most popular and beloved sport. With years and years of dedication and hard work towards the sport, AFC dreams and hopes for the continual improvement and development for football in the Ateneo Community and in the country.
