Can we talk about something real for a sec? ๐ซถ (โผ๏ธwarning: โผ๏ธa bit of a long read)
So many people wait until theyโre desperate to see a dietitian. Like, theyโll try every fad diet, every โdetox tea,โ every random meal plan from TikTok first and only come to me after months (sometimes years) of frustration, yo-yoing, or feeling like their body is working against them.
And every single time, the first thing they say is: โI wish I did this sooner.โ
Hereโs the thing nobody tells you: seeing a dietitian isnโt just for people who are โsickโ or need to โfixโ something. Itโs for anyone who wants to actually understand their body instead of guessing. Itโs for the person confused about why the same diet worked for their friend but not for them (spoiler: because youโre not your friend ๐
). Itโs for the athlete who thinks eating less will make them perform better. Itโs for the mom who hasnโt had a proper meal plan since she started prioritizing everyone else first.
What I always tell my clients: youโre not weak for needing guidance. Nutrition is genuinely confusing! Thereโs conflicting info everywhere, everyoneโs body responds differently, and what worked for your officemate might not work for you at all. Thatโs not a personal failure, thatโs just... biology. And having someone in your corner who actually knows the science (and knows you) makes all the difference.
Iโve seen clients go from feeling completely lost with food to finally feeling in control not because I gave them a โperfectโ plan, but because we built something around their real life. Their schedule, their budget, their cravings, their culture. Thatโs the part people donโt expect: itโs not about restriction, itโs about finally making sense of it all.
So if youโve been putting off talking to a dietitian because you think itโs โnot that serious yetโ I get it, but you donโt have to wait for a crisis to deserve support. Sometimes the best time to start is exactly when things just feel a little off. ๐
