We are proud to officially announce the establishment of the MMSU Stallions Chess Club!

We are a new, university-recognized organization at Mariano Marcos State University, dedicated to developing strategic minds, promoting the game of chess, and training varsity competitors.

Our mission is to build a strong community of players, from beginners to grandmasters in the making.

Motto: "𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗴𝗶𝘇𝗲. 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗲𝘁𝗲. 𝗘𝘅𝗰𝗲𝗹."

Paul Aldrich Crisostomo grabs 2nd Placer at the 4th Adones Chess Tournament🔥

Crisostomo a caliber player of Piddig Chess Club, took home 750 peso cash prize and a bronze medal as he clinched 2nd placer with an outstanding performance of 5 wins 1 lose 1 draw in the High School Category of the recently concluded 4th Adones Chess Tournament held at Barangay 25-Sur Payao,Batac City,Ilocos Norte.

'' Worth it ang travel papunta dito sa venue kahit malayo. I truly believe that there is always a fruit of every sacrifice'' Crisostomo added.

Agbayani sweeps Brgy. Santa Balbina, Laoag City Open Fiesta Chess Tilt

Arena Fide Master and Mariano Marcos State University Board 2 Chess Men Karl John Agbayani, swept his games with a score of solo 7.0 points to rule the Brgy. Santa Balbina, Laoag City Open Fiesta Chess Tilt held last Saturday,May 18,2024 at Brgy. Santa Balbina, Laoag City.

Agbayani, a Caliber player of Piddig Chess Club opened his campaign with a win over his former coach last R1AA 2023 Coach Jayson V. Ramos,then followed with victories over Mark Jansen Ganot, Redentor Ogena, John Pascual, Jared Cajigal, Paul Crisostomo and James Fane Almazan( Master Caliber Players of Laoag City ).

AFM Karl John Apalisoc Agbayani pocketed the ₱3,000 cash prize and a beautiful medal courtesy of Engr. Allan Leaño and the whole Barangay Santa Balbina, Laoag City.

" I am happy to win the Santa Balbina, Laoag City Open Fiesta Chess Tilt, after failing to clinched gold last Regionals SCUAA 1 Sports Olympics 2024 at La Union. I hope my luck will continue to rule on for my next tournaments to join in. I'm a bit bad with my games for today, all of it was just luck and I discovered that there would still be more of me to train on with my blunders during the tournament. " said the 18 yr old Agbayani, who hails from Piddig,Ilocos Norte.

Crisostomo a Caliber player of Piddig Chess Club bags 4th Placer at the Santa Balbina Open Chess Tilt♟️

Crisostomo started his campaign with a loss against Elmer Vea and made his comeback with a win against Jayson Ramos at the 2nd round. After a break he won his game against James Fane Almazan and continued his consecutive wins by winning his game against Mark Jansen Ganot. Then made a statement after a convincing draw game against John Pascual at round 5. In the penultimate round he loses his flame against his co-patriot Karl John Agbayani. Then in the last round he secured his spot in 4th place with 4.5 points after his win against Jared Cajigal.

" As a future Grade 12 student, this tournament helped me realize that I am capable of improving my capabilities, it gave me hope that I can also participate in R1AA someday, shown from my victories towards former R1AA Laoag Representatives James Almazan and Jared Cajigal. " Crisostomo concluded.
