Last 2 weeks:

Finally got some time to breathe and upload stuff.

I was grateful to help my Maestro Narzo Arnold in reviewing techniques with our Qatari brother Ahmed. I also met with G**o TR again to brush up on Punta y Daga. And of course, my most consistent training partner Ravi leveled up yet again.

Last 1.5 weeks:

Busy! Posting early cause I'm probably gonna be even busier soon.

Tried my first livestream, worked out with my boys (and girl) in Saturday class, trained with my bros Edwin and G**o David on succeeding days, and visited my OG training buddy G**o TR to reminisce about Mang Tony Diego, who left us for a higher existence 10 years ago.

Stuff from the last 2 weeks.

Went on a short holiday to see my training partner G**o Arnel Tandang in Los Baños.

We started KI at almost the same time but he has a lot more knowledge about other eskrima systems and even esoteric practices like anting anting and so on. He also helped me get my blunt trainers made (from hardware store machetes) and is one of the most multi-talented and admirable eskrima guys I know.

Last week:

1. Almost everybody was absent for various reasons, a major reason being Carina.

2. 2 hard workers showed up.

3. We learned stuff together.

4. FB started to refuse to reload pages and I spent days trying ot fix it. In the end I just reinstalled xb

My maestros in Kalis Ilustrisimo are Coach Arnold Narzo and Mang Tony Diego. But sometimes I am privileged to see other interpretations of our system.

In this video, taken about a decade ago, Mang Romy Macapagal, student of Tatang Antonio Ilustrisimo and good friend of Mang Tony and Coach Arnold, showed us his interpretation of KI techniques and concepts by way of a light and good-humored spar.

On occasion, we have also visited him at home, where he is an impeccable host, plying us with food, drink, conversation, and swordplay.

I needn't write much as there is a lot of info about him freely accessible online. As you can see here and in his various interviews and social media posts, he is very particular about the proper 'measure', a term I understand as referring to proper distancing and technique selection.

To reiterate: I am not his student. But I am grateful for what he has shared.

Half week activities:

More sparring with my semi-regular bro, basic techniques with my new bro.

KI is simple, but not easy. You need to refine your basics as often as you can. I still make new discoveries and have new epiphanies while reviewing basics.
