To the members of the club who are reading this, I hope you were able to learn a lot and make new friends during our club activities. If I had to go back to uni, I would do it again. I had an amazing time learning about everyone's stories and your aspirations. I'm grateful for being given the opportunity to teach and lead the club.
When I first pursued professional racing, I had no idea how I was supposed to start. Most videos about the topic were for foreigners and had little to no relevance locally. Any local racing organization was quite exclusive and didn't give any real information on how to join. It was only through sim racing that I was able find opportunities to race cars, sadly I learned that sim racing wasn't cheap and that I was blessed to be given a simulator.
I knew that I wasn't the only person who loved racing but was never given the chance to try it. The community was small but I saw that it was growing thanks to F1 and Gran Turismo.
When I formed the Dragons Motorsports Club. It took a lot of time and effort to form the club. I met so many passionate students who reminded me of what it was like to still be new to racing. Teaching was a little stressful but fun for sure. Even with all the documentation, planning, sponsorship hunting, and drama I did my best to find ways to train the members and have activities. I went through so many different staff heads, org leaders, and moderators of the school. I wanted nothing more than to see students of this university have the chance to try sim racing and in the future try the real thing too.
Even when not everyone showed up, even when people didn't thank me....
I loved every minute of being able to teach each and every one of you.
I loved seeing how happy you guys were behind the wheel.
I loved seeing you guys improve and get faster lap times, and most importantly...
I loved seeing you guys bond over the thing that gave my life meaning.
I would like to announce in this post that I am officially stepping down as president of the Dragons Motorsports Club.
I'll be announcing the next heads of the club, rest assured I will do my best to support the club in any way I can. I hope you guys can use the designated space I was able to get you guys for more activities.
I wish everyone in the club a wonderful rest of your college journey! In times of trouble keep moving forward, theres a reason the windshield is bigger than the rearview mirror!
Thank you guys for everything!
Sincerely,
Matthew Ang Batch 2025
President of the Dragons Motorsports Club (2023-2025)
