Praktikali

Praktikali Come and learn with us. Praktikali accepts students for FMA training every Saturday at Capitol Commons in Pasig.

Praktikali is based on the principles of single-stick striking on the sides of a polygonal target. Starting with 4 sides of a diamond to 6 sides of a hexagon then 8 sides of an octagon which then advances to 12 sides of a dodecagon or 12 angles of a clock. Mastering the techniques allow anyone to become formless and ultimately capable of practically hitting all 360 degrees angles of a small circle

target of attack. The Praktikali logo represents the geometry of strikes in the system. You can only truly appreciate and would likely to pursue to study once you get the details of the principle behind Praktikali. The octagon represents 8 angles of strikes and you have to be proficient (Sanay) to advance to the next level which is the dodecagon representing 12 angles of strikes which you have to be an expert (Hasa') to get to the next level of mastery (Marunong - represented by a circle). The ranks Sanay and Hasa' are already at a master level. Students will have to go through ranks Maalam (4 angles of strikes represented by a diamond or tetragon) and Mahusay (6 angles of strikes represented by a hexagon) to advance. Our 5-level ranking system is based on the Dreyfus Model of Skill Acquisition and our curriculum for each level is based on the 80-20 rule. Praktikali aims to teach the principle behind the system emphasizing that every action has a logical purpose and meaning, making it easy for anyone to develop a way to formlessness.

Reverse (pakal or icepick) Grip vs Forward Grip.

It's necessary to close in when in reverse grip as executed in the first round.

When using forward grip, you have the advantage of reach as carried out efficiently in the second round (stab to the face).

Take note also of the trapping hand as seen on both rounds.

Knife against Knife. A most unlikely situation that you can get yourself into but we spar to develop range estimation, timing, footwork, etc, and most of all to have fun while learning. These two ladies will have improved their chances of surviving under such circumstance.

Handgun Disarming. This is part of a series of lessons for security personnel under Unarmed Defense where they are taught how to defend against common gun situations. By actually performing these techniques, you would have gained the confidence and prowess or "lakas ng loob" to act when such an event happens. The whole series is designed in progression so students can understand the principles and then apply them without ever knowing all the techniques. Understanding one principle equates to multiple techniques. If you think your security agency can benefit from this, please contact us and arrange for a demo.

When you have decided to practice your craft, do not forget that consistency is key to mastering it.

Raw footage of how these security personnel were taught a few first steps to successfully restrain a hostile person. Most people would almost always react when their hands are grabbed but when grabbed while distracted, it should work.

If you are interested in this short practical course that we offer and happen to work for a Security Agency or Law Enforcement, please contact this page.

Knowing how to take down a person to the ground is an important skill to learn when working with a security group. There will come a time when a guest has to be restrained without the need to cause serious physical injury. If you work with a security agency and is interested with this, please contact us.

The objective is to get inside quickly and outbalance the assailant. Grabbing the forearm can work in a different scenario as it is difficult to grab the arm of an incoming knife attack as demonstrated in this video. You only do this maneuver if you can anticipate the angle of attack, otherwise just resort to forearm destruction or direct assault (which is advised for multiple opponents and will depend on the level of your training if you can effectively neutralize an attacker with one or two blows) especially if the attacker seems to know how to handle the knife. If you must run, make sure the attacker can't catch up. If you have a gun, remember the 21-foot rule.

The sword is not a toy, its a weapon. With or without a manual or warning label, it should be handled with extreme caution. The blade broke off and hit this 15-year old kid's forehead during a water bottle cutting session. The metal was lodged in his head causing brain injury. He was in a coma for several weeks.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) – It's a $20 sword Tristan Ballinger's parents and their lawyer say should come with a warning label because of the dangerous potential.

In all the sparring sessions we've experienced, attacking first without a sound strategy will get you hurt. The mayor was brave but that was really a stupid move. Kudos to the authorities, they did the right thing, that is, not killing the deranged man.
