I am sharing my personal experience with Ron Vidal (FB name) regarding a badminton racket transaction.
I don’t usually post things like this, especially not over ₱7,000.
What pushed me to speak up wasn’t the money, it was being accused of breaking the racket myself. As someone who professionally strings badminton rackets, being told that I cracked the frame just by cutting the strings to inspect it felt insulting and questioned my integrity.
I purchased a racket from him and paid in full. He booked a Grab to deliver it to me. Upon receiving and inspecting the racket, I found what appeared to be a crack on the frame. As a badminton stringer, I cut the strings (25×27 lbs) to properly inspect the racket, which is standard practice when checking for frame damage.
I immediately informed him about the issue and requested a refund. After that, he stopped responding to my Facebook messages and did not answer my calls. Fortunately, he had previously given me his mobile number, so I was able to contact him through Viber. It was only then that he replied and claimed that I was the one who caused the damage because I had cut the strings.
I’m posting this to share my personal experience so others can exercise caution and thoroughly inspect items when buying second-hand badminton equipment. I have screenshots of our conversations, proof of payment, and photos of the racket documenting what happened.
