Roy was more than a hockey player. He was one of the pioneers of ice hockey in the Philippines.

Long before many of us laced up our first pair of skates, Roy Enriquez was helping build the foundation of the game we all love today. He opened doors for countless players, including our founder, Coach F. To many, he was a coach, a mentor, a teammate, a friend, and a brother. To those who spent time with him at Southmall, he was "The Iceman."

He always had time to share a tip, whether it was about skating, stickhandling, reading the play, or simply enjoying the game. Roy didn't just teach hockey—he shared a passion that inspired generations of players to fall in love with the sport.

The Philippine hockey community has lost one of its greatest ambassadors. A father. A mentor. A coach. A brother. A friend.

But legacies don't end when people are gone. They live on through every player they inspired, every coach they influenced, and every child who will one day learn from someone Roy once taught. His love for hockey will continue to ripple through generations.

At Mustangs Hockey Club, we have never had a player wear #29.

Today, we proudly announce that we never will.

In honor of Roy Enriquez, Mustangs Hockey Club is permanently retiring jersey #29. Roy was never officially a Mustang, but some people rise above club colors. Roy belonged to the entire Philippine hockey community.

The NHL has 99 for Wayne Gretzky.

We have 29.
