I will be conducting an online talk entitled "Teamwork in the New Normal: The Impact of Remote Work on Team Culture and Coherence." I think adjusting to working remotely is a challenge for many groups and I would like to share my insights for those who are dealing with such a change. This pandemic has upended lives, including the way we work. As a learning facilitator who thrives on face-to-face interaction in group settings, it has been difficult to adjust my chosen career to these new circumstances. But of course we all have to adapt in order to succeed at what we do. Therefore, I have decided to try delivering my services online.

Last October 15, 2019, I was invited by the Philippine office of Korn Ferry International to facilitate a half-day team building for their leaders. It was held at Club Balai Isabel in Batangas.

February 23-24, 2019, was both a leisure and working weekend for me as some of my high school classmates and their families gathered for our 30th anniversary reunion. Knowing that I am a professional facilitator, they hired me to run some fun team building games for them.

It was a pleasure seeing the young once and the young ones team up in a friendly competition. We may be getting old, but playing games together is still one of the best ways to bond and reminisce over old times.

These are a few photos from the fifth game-based learning session I facilitated for Regal Manila on October 19. In these sessions I use board games to help participants understand specific soft skills and behaviors that are important for their professional development and success.

For this session, we played Airlines Europe, a game where players invest in airlines and help expand their operations in order to increase the value of their investments.

For this session, we played Stone Age, a game of prehistoric tribal competition. Players gather resources and food in an effort to advance their tribe.

For this session, we played Endeavor, a game of expansion and colonization during the Age of Discovery. Players control European empires trying to control cities and trade routes to the Americas, Africa, and Asia.

For this session, we played Container, a business game where players produce, transport, and purchase goods through a supply chain.

As a team building facilitator, I’m always looking out for ways to increase my knowledge and improve my craft. This book delivers on that front. It’s well-written and easy to read. It’s full of engaging stories and thought-provoking ideas I’m eager to share with my future team building participants. Definitely recommended reading.
