There is no heartbreak in sports quite like being defeated before you even step onto the court. But what makes the situation of two of our NCF Tigers Sepaktakraw athletes so utterly infuriating isn't a loss born of a bad call or a superior opponent. No, their defeat came at the hands of paperwork, incompetence, and gross negligence. While we celebrate the triumphs of the tournament, we cannotโand will notโremain silent about a glaring injustice.
During the National PRISAA Games 2026, these two student-athletes were unjustly denied the chance to compete in the Quadrant Event. The reason? Not an injury. Not a violation of code. Simply a failure of the very officials who were supposed to champion them to do their baseline job.
For an athlete, a National tournament isn't just another date on the calendar. It is the culmination of endless, grueling hours of sacrifice. It is waking up before dawn, rehearsing at the middle of an open court with the scorging heat of the sun, pushing through agonizing muscle cramps, balancing demanding academics, and pouring blood, sweat, and tears into every single kick, block, and spike. The NCF Tigers trained to represent not just their school, but the pride of the entire Bicol region.
Yet, all that preparation was rendered meaningless in an instant. Because of a profound lack of diligence and administrative oversight, these two Tigers were left stranded on the sidelines, forced to watch an event they rightfully earned the right to dominate.
To prepare your body and mind for the highest level of competition, only to be disqualified by bureaucratic carelessness, is a soul-crushing betrayal.
Accountability seems to have been completely lost in translation this season. How do you explain to young athletes that their dreams were sidelined because adults couldn't manage registrations, schedules, or technical requirements properly?
This gross negligence dealt a devastating triple blow to the NCF Tigers Sepaktakraw Varsity Team. First and foremost, it robbed these two dedicated athletes of a career-defining opportunity to showcase their hard-earned talents on the national stage. Beyond the individual heartbreak, it deeply demoralized a closely-knit team that relies entirely on the synergy, trust, and presence of every single roster member to function at their best. Ultimately, this administrative failure sabotaged Bicol's chances of bringing home a medal in the Quadrant Event, effectively lowering the entire region's competitive standing out of sheer carelessness.
We often preach to our student-athletes about
It is deeply hypocritical that the governing body meant to foster these values displayed the exact opposite. Bureaucratic laziness shouldn't be allowed to sweep the dreams of our youth under the rug.
The NCF Tigers community, the student body, and sports enthusiasts across the region demand more than just a passing apology. We demand absolute accountability! Our athletes gave 100% on the court; the least the officials could have done was give 10% of that effort in the office.
To our two Tigers: Your school sees your worth, even if the system failed to protect it. You deserved to play, you deserved to win, and you deserved so much better than the gross incompetence that kept you from the court.
We demand JUSTICE! We demand ACCOUNTABILITY!
