Safe travels to our BPED student participating in the Southeast Asia Pre-Service Teacher Exchange Program (SEA Teacher) Project Regular Batch 11.

Ms. Geraldine Quesada, a BPED student from the College of Education, will embark on a month-long pre-service teaching exchange at Universitas Jambi, Indonesia.

This international program provides an opportunity to develop teaching competencies, gain cross-cultural experience, and foster professional growth through an immersive educational setting.

Eduardo L. Joson Memorial High School, under the leadership of Dr. Virginia D. Fernandez, Head Principal, warmly welcomed the student from the Expanded Tertiary Education Equivalency and Accreditation Program (EETEAP) โ€“ Bachelor of Physical Education (BPED) of Central Luzon State University as he commenced his internship.

The school administration, with the support of Dr. Jennifer T. De Jesus, Head of ISPELS, facilitated a smooth integration of the student into the school community. Special appreciation is extended to Mr. April Ace P. Ordoรฑez, Cooperating Teacher, for his guidance in facilitating the deployment.

The CLSU Cultural Affairs Office extends its deepest gratitude to Dr. Florante P. Ibarra, outgoing Head of the Cultural Affairs Office, for his years of dedicated leadership, visionary guidance, and unwavering commitment to the advancement of arts and culture in the university. Under his stewardship, the office reached significant milestones, strengthened its cultural groups, and elevated CLSUโ€™s presence in regional, national, and international cultural platforms.

The rehabilitation of the Gymnatorium Right-Wing Comfort Rooms was successfully completed on January 20, 2026, following construction works that commenced in November 2025. The project was implemented under the guidance and support of University President Dr. Evaristo A. Abella and the Universityโ€™s Gender and Development (GAD) initiative, led by Dr. Mercedita M. Reyes, Director of the University Gender and Development Office, with the assistance of Dr. Jennifer T. De Jesus, Head of ISPELS; Prof. John A. Agaton, Head of the SDO; and Dr. Florante P. Ibarra, Dean of the College of Education. Coordination of the project was facilitated by Ms. Marimar B. Fuentes, ISPELS GAD Focal Person, and with the Physical Plant and Development Services (PPDS).

The rehabilitation included upgrades to plumbing, flooring, tiles, partitions, lighting, and ventilation to provide a cleaner, safer, and more gender-responsive facility.

The newly rehabilitated facilities are now fully functional, and plans for the left-wing comfort rooms are currently being prepared for future implementation.

The CEDโ€“Institute of Sports, Physical Education, and Leisure Studies (ISPELS) successfully concluded the 2nd Ag Sala Tayon: Provincial Folk Dance Workshop held from January 9โ€“11, 2026, at Central Luzon State University.

The three-day workshop gathered teachers, dancers, and students from various institutions who actively participated in lecture-demonstrations and practical sessions focused on selected provincial folk dances. The activity highlighted proper technique, rhythmic accuracy, and the cultural significance of each dance.

The strong participation and engagement of the attendees contributed significantly to the success of the workshop. ISPELS extends its appreciation to all participants for their support and commitment in promoting Philippine folk dance and cultural heritage through the performing arts.

ISPELS extends its sincere appreciation to the CLSU Bithay Sining Dance Company and Rondalla Ensemble for their valuable contributions to the cultural showcase and dance demonstrations. Special recognition is given to Prof. Adonis Voltaire Villanueva, Artistic Director of both groups, for his artistic leadership and guidance. ISPELS also expresses its gratitude to Dr. Jennifer T. De Jesus, Head of ISPELS, and Dr. Florante P. Ibarra, Dean of the College of Education, whose leadership and continued support contributed greatly to the successful conduct of the activity.

The successful completion of the workshop underscores ISPELSโ€™ commitment to the preservation of Philippine cultural heritage and the advancement of dance education through the performing arts.
