NEWS | Sportfest 2026 Begins at URSM with Vibrant Opening Program
Cheers and energy filled the University of Rizal System Morong (URSM) gymnasium as graduating students from Grades 6, 10, and 12 gathered for Sportfest 2026 on Monday, April 20, celebrating unity, teamwork, and school spirit through a series of activities.
The opening program was held at the URSM gymnasium as part of the celebration of Graduating Week, marking the beginning of the much-anticipated event.
The program formally opened with the cheers prepared by each team, followed by the welcome remarks delivered by Prof. Maria Erleen R. Luciano on behalf of the principal of the Laboratory Schools, Prof. Meilyn G. Javier, who warmly greeted the participants. This was followed by an inspirational message from Dr. Jenisus O. Dejarlo, dean of the College of Education, who emphasized the value of sportsmanship and active participation as he congratulated the soon-to-be completers and graduates.
“Hindi ’yan pagtatapos, iyan ay simula pa lamang ng mga susunod na araw. Iwanan muna natin ang lahat ng mga isipin,” Dr. Dejarlo said, encouraging students to embrace new beginnings with a positive mindset.
The presentation of the rules and mechanics of the games was then conducted by Aron Mashlee S.J. Delos Santos, president of the Seniors’ Organization, ensuring that all participants were properly guided.
The program proceeded with the presentation of candidates for muse and es**rt, where each team confidently showcased their creativity and team pride through their ramp performances.
The oath of sportsmanship and the declaration of the formal opening of the competition were led by Seanric Lorenz P. Mateo, president of the URSM Sports Club, officially signaling the start of the games.
To conclude the event, Prof. Gienette D. Ramirez, professor of the Laboratory Schools, delivered her closing remarks, leaving students motivated and excited for the competitions ahead.
“Let’s carry this spirit of purity throughout the rest of the competition,” Prof. Ramirez said.
As the opening program end it signaled the beginning of a series of activities aimed at promoting unity and sportsmanship among students.
