IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT OLDER EVO 6 LANYARDS
We recently became aware of an issue affecting some older Evo 6 lanyards still in stock with our distributor in Taiwan.
The lanyard shown in this photo was sold as βbrand newβ because it had never been used. However, it was actually manufactured approximately 6β7 years ago and had remained in stock since then.
Over time, polymer and plastic components can naturally deteriorate, even without use. Storage conditions, heat, humidity and UV exposure can further accelerate this ageing process.
This is what appears to have happened here.
The Evo 6 was replaced several years ago by our current Evo 7, in which these components have been redesigned and reinforced with more durable materials.
What are we doing about it?
We have already contacted our distributor in Taiwan and are arranging the replacement of the remaining older Evo 6 lanyards still in stock.
For customers who have already purchased one of these affected older Evo 6 lanyards in Taiwan, the replacement will be provided at no cost to the customer.
The complete lanyard assembly, including the carabiner, cable and connecting components, will be replaced, while the original wristband can be kept.
Freediving Planet and our distributor in Taiwan will share the replacement costs. Customers will not be charged.
A reminder about safety equipment
A freediving lanyard is an important piece of safety equipment. Its condition should be checked regularly, and age matters even when the equipment has never or rarely been used.
As a general guideline, we recommend replacing a lanyard after approximately 3β4 years, or immediately if any component shows signs of deterioration, damage or abnormal wear.
