Why do I always say yes to community events even when the pay is small?

Because I know how difficult it is to build a community.

When we started the freediving community in Davao Oriental, we started from scratch. There was no blueprint, no reference, and no one to tell us exactly where to begin. Building the Sawom Davao Oriental community has never been easy, especially while also growing my own freediving school.

Freediving is a unique sport. Your progress is personal and individual, but you can never do it alone—you always need a buddy. That sense of connection, trust, and shared growth is what makes our community special.

That's why I see community work as part of my social responsibility. To support those who want to start their own communities. To teach, educate, and mentor future community leaders. To help create a safer, more enjoyable, and more sustainable freediving culture for everyone.

Every thriving community today exists because someone was willing to volunteer their time, share their knowledge, and do the work long before it became rewarding.

So here's to the pioneers. Here's to the people who keep showing up. And here's to this lovable community that continues to grow together.

Why do colors disappear underwater?

As sunlight enters the ocean, colors are absorbed one by one.
🔴 Red fades first (around 5m)
🟠 Sharmaine and 🟡 yellow follow
💚 Green and 💙 blue stay the longest

That’s why everything looks blue the deeper you go.

It’s not that color is gone—
it’s just hidden beneath the surface.
